Fender deluxe PJ smokes MIA imo

Soooo, now I'm torn. Do I get the Nate Mendel P Bass thats been languishing at my local mom and pop store ($899, but I know they will want to move it so hopefully much less).

Or do I get the Deluxe PJ at my local GC. Problem is I had one in my "Cart" before the Holidays and the price was around $650 (with my Holiday limited time 20% discount code)….and it was the sunburst, not sure I'm crazy about the sea foam and thats all they have at GC and hate the idea of shelling out $799 plus tax.

Decisions, Decisions.

Just ordered one from the GC website. Had the 15% off and worked. It's was $680 plus tax but not bad. A lot of positive. As a j bass owner a p will be a nice addition but without the wide neck. I got the passive version and have an extra case so I'm set. Just will need to upgrade to the black pg. Is this a stock p guard with the passive model. Thanks. Almost want to ask for a number, so many new owners.

Just took delivery of my passive Fender Deluxe P/J yesterday and just amazed at the build for a MIM bass. It needed a little adjustment out of the box but this neck is butter, set the action just where I like it, no buzz, no rattle just the p/j sound of delight. Fit and finish is perfect and on par with MIA. The sea foam green is much better in person and think a black pg is in order. If you run across this thread thinking of buying this bass you will not be disappointed as she sound and play like a dream. By far the best MIM out there and a change for us jazz players to get the P tone with the large neck. Well done Fender.

I like the black pickguard too and want it on mine but...it needs that extra knob hole!
You're right about how many people are buying these basses. I've never seen anything like this before. I've been longing for this bass for months and recommending it ever since I tried it out at GC back in November.
I tried three different PJs in three different stores and each one sounded better than the last. Hey, I think they should change the name to Ultimate PJ!
Mine is still on layaway. One more week and it comes home.

Im Literally taking mine to GC in an hour to have them install a black pickgaurd, the tech said he is able to bore a new hole into a a pickgaurd. I will post photos and let you know the outcome.

Only bad thing about this bass is so many people are buying them and I wanted the only one!
I mean, it's not like I'm going to show up at a party and see someone wearing the same bass, but...
Seriously, though...I don't want to hear a derogatory word about GC ever again, not only did I get my PJ for an incredibly low price with the 20% off the online price, but I also bought a new Markbass CMD-121P for $599 and a very nice Inca Silver Squier CV Jazz bass from them.

Sadly, I still have to pick it up.
Put it on layaway after playing 3 different ones because the third one sounded the best and I didn't want to let it slip away.
I've been posting about this bass since the first week of November and telling everyone how incredible it is and I still don't have mine yet.
Recently burned out of my apartment. Money's been tight.
But the new year is looking good!

Awesome! Well 2015 hasn't been great for many people I know, but I'm happy things are looking up for you.

And I feel your pain about this bass......I've been wanting one of these sooooooo much.

Hopefully by May or so I keep telling myself.......

So I searched high and low for one but they just done exist. I went to GC and bought on (can't remember the name but if you want I will dig it up) it was $20 and had the tech do it for another 20. It sets off the seafoam like crazy
