Fender La Cabronita Precision Bass

I just bought my second Cabronita. I initially got the Red, loved the neck loved everything about it. went back to the store saw a 2TSB and had to have it too.

These basses are so cool and so affordable everyone should have two.

I do notice quitae a difference in tone. the CAR is more scooped and has more attack. the 2RSB more lower mids.

I'm guessing this has to do with weight. The 2tsb is 9lbs 3 oz lbs the red is 9lbs 13 oz,

My CAR Cabronita arrived today - initial impressions are very good, much better than the last MIM bass I bought as factory stock! Setup is too low for my tastes, but I'll have to wait until my order of flats arrives before I fix that. Pickup was set too high on the E side, but that's a very minor niggle. The horrible Tele jack cup will have to go, fortunately I have a spare electrosoocket lying around.

I haven't had any problem with traditional tele cups- but I like the electrosocket design... can you use a right angle plug with them?

Yep, the main reason I like to use them.

I just noticed on another NBD thread that the Squier seems to have the pickup moved away from the neck in relation to the MIM model.

Four quick runs through an ATDI riff, essentially straight to my desk (the SansAmp is bypassed). First two runs are picked, second two are fingerstyle; the tone control is at either extreme in both cases.

It was great. I liked it a lot but there was a dead spot on the 6th fret of the g string. It's going back. I'd buy another one if I can try it in a store first.

That would be strange. Could someone measure that distance on his Fender? It is 4.645" on my Squier from the end of the neck to the edge of the pickup.

I love mine. I'm pretty sure I was possessed when I bought it. I know this thing is supposed to look Tex-Mex, but you can really wring some dirty funk out of these things.

An addendum to my initial electrosocket comment: yes, you can use a right-angle plug, but it does depend on the particular plug's casing and whether you use a spring washer or not. Without the washer, my usual lead fits, but with the washer it doesn't.
