An addendum to my initial electrosocket comment: yes, you can use a right-angle plug, but it does depend on the particular plug's casing and whether you use a spring washer or not. Without the washer, my usual lead fits, but with the washer it doesn't.

A long les paul style switchcraft jack might help?

I haven't had any problem with traditional tele cups- but I like the electrosocket design.

I've had problems as the MIJ '54/Sting's mounting that was always coming loose was installed backwards and missing a piece from the factory -- and was not as beefy as the current MIA in any case.

Installed correctly they're perfectly fine, but installation is extremely tricky if you don't know what you're doing, and someone at Dyna-Gakki obviously didn't.

Scotch - cheers for that, I'll see what I can track down. I do prefer to have the spring washer in there to help keep things from moving.

that works well with the Electrosocket and R/A plugs.

Be careful, though.

Some cheapo knockoffs of the Electrosocket have a thread pitch that is different than the genuine ones and won't work with the Switchcraft jacks...

What kind of flats did you put on? I've put on Chromes(50-105) and Labella 760FL. I found that the bass lost "something" sonically!?!

A little demo to show the clean DI tone of the Cabronita with a variety of settings, playing techniques and string types.

Four runs through an At The Drive-in riff:
-Picked / tone 10
-Picked / tone 0
-Fingers / tone 10
-Fingers / tone 0

In each run, the order is:
-original new Fender NPS roundwounds
-new Fender SS flatwounds
-old SS groundwounds, brand unknown (very dark though)

Signal path is Cabronita > bypassed SansAmp ParaDriver DI > Alesis Multimix8. Levels adjusted, light volume maximisation applied in Reaper.

That would be strange. Could someone measure that distance on his Fender? It is 4.645" on my Squier from the end of the neck to the edge of the pickup.

Curious. Mine measures 4 & 5/16ths, or 4.31". Wonder how much that effects the tone?

my question is which TV Jones pickup would work best with which bass? I guess the Thunder'Blade would work with either one. Wonder how a neck position Thunder'Mag would sound. I wish TVJones would post some sound clips.

I had the Squier for about 3 hours. I returned it because of a dead spot on the 6th fret of the G string. Aside from that it was great. Great finish, neck, tone. I didn't wanna live with the dead spot so I returned it, but otherwise it was great.

Been using my Squier Cab for the last several band rehearsals and love the way it sounds. It's like the way I'd EQ a normal Pbass, only without the need for EQ. Like pre-sliced bread, y'know?
