Sucks about the piano player, she seemed pretty good. But hey, if you can find someone more reliable then thats surely what's best for the future of the band. Just dont burn the bridge..may need her in the future.

I had to cancel practice yesterday too. 
The pianist is still not returning calls or anything, the vocalist was working until 10, and the fiddler was feeling very creative and wanted to finish the song he was writing for his other band.
Bought a bottle of whiskey (booze sale!) last night and drank half of it with the stated goal of getting sloshed and figuring out what to do. Former, successful; latter, not so much. I still have emails out to a couple of drummers and a guitard so all isn't lost, but grrrr anyway.
I'm a (dreadfully hungover) project manager as my day job, so I'm good at doing these sort-of-planned undertakings, usually. There seems to come a point somewhere in the middle of all of my projects where I start to lose faith and get depressed with the lack of progress, then consider dumping the whole thing.
That point is here. Today.

From your posts you were doomed to fail from the beginning. You have no PA or decent bass rig for that matter. IMO you have no business trying to start your own band.

I never had to give a bull's nuts about equipment when I was playing DB; on the Internet it's all "Goodness help you if you don't have $$$$ worth of gear"
I started a band to get some musicianship going and maybe flesh out the gig bag a little. I'm not a rocker that needs to blow peoples faces off with an ampeg fridge. My little amp is just as loud as a DB, which all I need just this minute. I don't think modern musicians do this as a second job so they can make a ton of money. I want my kids to grow up in a house full of music. That doesn't happen because of gear.
I refuse to acknowledge an imaginary rule that you can't start a band if you don't have a PA or a giant rig.
You can't start a good band if you don't because any musician worth playing with will think your a flake if you don't have at least a fairly decent amp and some sort of PA and A business plan. If I came to your place to audition and you had no PA and whatever that abortion you are using for a bass amp I would figure this guy isn't serious and this project will never get off the ground.
But, if I had a DB, it would be OK? Just doesn't add up.
Guys in my genres just don't give three craps about gear. A DB would be nice, but PA rentals are cheap and gigs are low volume anyhow. And the plan is what this thread is about.

In looking at your initial post, you set yourself an extremely daunting task. You want what you want, but it doesn't seem to be what many other people want. It sounds from the parameters you set out that this is to be a "fun band" for you, which is cool, but at the end of the day very few people are going to share your vision or do what you want to do. Not to mention it's not terribly viable from a gig/money-making perspective. So for the most part, you want a team of dedicated, quality musicians to show up and rehearse/jam a lot with very little to show for it. If this is what you want, it may take you an extremely long time to find it, and you're going to go through a lot of musicians before you find the right group--and keeping them will be equally difficult.
I wish you luck in your endeavors. I think it's going to take the patience of a complete and utter saint, and if you're lacking that, you may need to consider doing something different.

From 1986-2006 I can count ON THE FINGERS OF ONE HAND the times I plugged the DB into anything bigger than 100w. I can count on the fingers of ONE FINGER the times I needed a PA and couldn't rent/borrow one. I've never owned a single PA component.
That requirement just ain't one.
But if he played well i would forget all of that. You sir, are a gear snob of the worst variety.
