Fodera Club Part VIII

No, it has nothing to do with the age...all of our Pau Ferro was hand selected by Vinny over 20 years ago. Pau Ferro varies very significantly in color. We have some that is lighter and some that is darker, but none that looks like the washed, out, bland stuff most people seem to associate with this wood. That's one of the things that I love about my partners (Vinny and Joey) and the whole Fodera mindset -- they have always taken the time to hand select the best woods and have been willing to pay a premium to get them.

As always!! :bassist:

That topwood looks related to mine, except I don't have the zone of flame in the middle.

Great looking bass, Maple Burl right?

Our preference is to expose the pole pieces unless the player either sweats a lot or does not like the look. We feel that getting the magnets ever-so-slightly closer to the strings provides a slightly more open, nuanced tone. The difference is subtle and only noticeable via a direct before and after comparison on the same instrument...

Very helpful, thanks Jason

Rehearsed with a 16 piece big band yesterday. My main amp (Acoustic Image Coda) was stuck at another rehearsal space, so I played through my Phil Jones Briefcase. Sounded surprisingly good! Super punchy with lots of clarity. Great tone, and I was just at the right volume level for the band (volume was pretty much all the way up). :bassist:

Had a handful of other rehearsals with the bass too. It's just perfect. Not too much else I need to say. It makes me happy :smug:
