So what is the con-sises of you G&L experts between the M-Series & L-Series which would be the better bass if you where going to buy one of these?

The L. It does more than the M does. If you want EQ it can be added easier than adding the switching options to the M. Even though they both look close they are vastly different basses. The M is the polite sister of the win L. Where the M stops, cannot give more, the L continues to give.

Picked it up my new MJ-4 today. Pearl White, Ebony fret board, Stainless Steel frets, Quartersawn neck. So far it feels and plays great. I will get a better feel for it this week.

Hey guys, I would like to add my entry into the club. A while ago I picked up a red 1996 L2500 (the body said 96, I couldn't read the date on the neck?). Reading A LOT of these threads and doing some research, I found it is a Custom, with an alder body, ash top (with the nice natural binding around the body) and 3 piece maple neck. It needed cleaning but it is in, I would say 9.5 out of 10 shape. Yep, it is a bit on the heavy side, but I only play it on a few songs, so it's not so bad. It is very, very well balanced though. I am amazed at all of the tonal possibilities with this one and it really brings......the THUNDER!

So how are you liking the MJ so far? What strings are you using?

I found that mine is very sensitive to string types. The stock strings didn't sound that great to me. Now it has TI Jazz Rounds on it, sounds brilliant.

I play Sadowsky Flats on mine and love them. The MJ-4 has become my go to bass. I never thought that any bass would take the place of my Warwick but it is hands down better. I went through 5 different bass from Fender, Music Man and Warwick. I also played as many different bass as I could get my hands on and nothing for me plays are sounds and good as my MJ-4 does. This my first G&L but it want be my last. Next up the LB-100.

Not that I know of. They might be convinced to do a limited run if a dealer comes up with enough orders. I know they did a limited run of the L1000 a few years ago.

is there any similarity between the 1984 and the 2013 SB2? or r they completely different and just share the same name?

They are completely different. The 1984 is more like a hot rod jazz bass. The 2013 is like a P bass on roids. They actually complement each other nicely.

Good luck with that. They're not exactly blazing into new areas. A different wood might be something they could be talked into. A different shape . . . I wouldn't hold my breath.

That's not a new shape; it's the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed].

And they are finally blazing more new bass territory with the coming MJ5. So anything is possible with enough public demand.

It's one of their guitars (I know that) but they have not been the type of company (and I don't expect them to change anytime soon) that does new models or experiments with models. Heck, people have been trying to get them to add more 5 string models for year with no luck.

You want them to use a guitar body and make it short scale. I doubt they'll do it but there's no harm in asking.
