Fear not on the 5-string P bass! I've heard rumblings that a 5-string version of the LB-100 is in development. Details are scarce, but that should happen sometime this year.

That would be great! The local G&L dealer here in MA heard a similar rumor but dismissed it as just that. I hope that your info is more recent than his! All that I've wanted is an American, 5 string, passive, P bass that wasn't one of the only THREE color/ neck combos that Fender offers.

Most can't handle the L-5000's tight 15mm string spacing. Think 5 strings on a 4 string neck.

That would be great! The local G&L dealer here in MA heard a similar rumor but dismissed it as just that. I hope that your info is more recent than his! All that I've wanted is an American, 5 string, passive, P bass that wasn't one of the only THREE color/ neck combos that Fender offers.

My info comes straight from the horse's mouth (the head sales dude @ G&L), and it is fairly recent. He's been talking about it for a while now, but I get the impression that they're actually making some headway on either the fixturing or an actual prototype.

I'm sure that you do. However, they are the vastly inferior four string version. Fingers of my level of skill shan't touch such an inferior number of strings!

I have a Beatle bass with 15mm spacing and the only way I can play it with my fat fingers is with a pick, but Beatle basses should be played with a pick, not sure about G&Ls though!

With a B string that sounds exponentially better than the Fender B, the LB-105 would e everything that a Fender Five never is.

Lol... I haven't tried a 5er in 10 years, and so far, every time that I think I'm ready, I'm not. But now that I see how big a following it has, I confess, I'm intrigued and ready to try again.

In fact, I'm going to start a paper route right now!

Oh man .....

I was starting to seriously consider trading my Precision V for a semi-hollow. But if G&L has a 5-string P bass coming soon, that could change things. Of course, that most likely means that I'll end up with the G&L *and* a semi-hollow*, not a G&L instead of a semi-hollow.

I have no idea how I'm going to bring this up for discussion at home.

Very nice! I rock an L-5000 as well, such a fun and easy bass to play. And it looks like you now have my old trans green L-5500! That one was a smooth player.

Did you ship it out to a TB'r in Seattle? I've had the L5500 for about a year and I love it.
Love the L5000! It's got a sound all own.
