Genzler Amplification ! New Genz Benz ?

My GK NEOs have really tight non extended low end. I'd love to get a cab with some LF extension \ warmth \ round bottom but still retain mid complexity. If thats what these are shooting for they will be VERY interesting.

We had a very experienced FOH engineer as part of the testing team and he was extremely impressed with the penetration and dispersion of 2 together---especially on stages where you'd usually see an 8x10.

I guess the short answer is --- no single 12" only cabs are planned.

This happened today...... 2 BA12-3's dropped off by the brown truck guys. Easy for the driver since they are pretty light. Even boxed up they were a manageable schlep. Out of the box, really dig the build quality and the overall aesthetics. Nice job Jeff! Love the handle placement on the side which keeps the CG of the cabs close to the body and makes for a nice carry.

Sound.... impressive...pretty sure these cabs are going to make quite a few happy campers. To my ear, sound is smooth and fairly flat. Nice transition from the 12" woofer to the 4x3" array. Nice full range sound without any noticeable dips in the frequency range. Cabs handle eq well and have a nice top end without being too brittle or harsh. You can still gank up some of that high end with eq, your just not going to get in that traditional tweeter territory. Think of the highs as being just a bit more organic and not as hi-fi as a traditional tweeter.

I haven't feed the cab any effects yet, but my Baer ML112s handle effects really well and I really don't expect any less from the BA 12-3's. The array is interesting as it provides a depth to the sound if you will. Also, I moved all around the cab to listen to the dispersion and it remains fairly even by my non-scientific testing. I hear maybe a bit more low mids when I am directly in front of cab as compared to when I listen at 30 to 45 degrees off center. This is based on some quick listening out of the box and I have a bit of cold, so I reserve the right to change my opinion as I spend a little more time with the cabs.

I would LOVE to hear from you any side by side experience/comparison to the Baer ML112 cabs. I'm looking for a strong focused yet round low end that can deliver a low B even with the rest of the notes.
I use both a GK MB Fusion800 and Aguilar TH500, modern to vintage basses. I run both fairly flat.

I will do some more comparisons, but strong and focused are covered IMO. In your situation, you would be getting most of your color from amps and basses and the cabs would just be delivering the output from what it is given. My guess is that the TH500 would pair up well with these cabs. The GK probably would as well, but it is not going to get you in that super crisp high end you might be used to with a GK cab with tweeter. Those that are used to the 2way fearful/fearless or Baer design will feel at home. These cabs are similar, but the array just adds a different variable to the mix. Different flavors of good!

Speaking of the array design.....Jeff, do you have any recommendations regarding mic placement for recording sound samples? Also, wondering about recommendations regarding placement near room corners. I'm guessing one would want to angle away from the sidewall ( towards the center of the room) so the dispersion of the array is not reflecting directly off a sidewall.

You could (possible turning the tweeter off on the MG-112T) probably would need to try it.
My stronger opinion is that the Bass Array12-3 is the type of cabinet that is best as a single or double (2 cabs). The benefit of the array design x 2 is very impressive than just loading up on another 12" woofer.

Hey Cory---- think the Bass Array offers much more versatility for mic placement----either in Live or Recording applications.
For Live---recommend a mic placement about 6" from cab and approx. 3" off axis as a starting point. More movement that close off axis will yield more low end less Array and vise versa going closer to on axis.
For Recording -- recommend placement out about 12"-18" where you have more control over the environment noise level around the cab. Again movements around the horizontal plane form their should provide added complexity with the potential for more woofer farther off axis and more mids closer to on axis.

I'm not after a "super crisp high end", and especially not brittle. I like an organic/smooth high end that is still present (not rolled off).
And on the bottom I don't want anything "flubby" (is that a word"), but strong & quick.

I dont want to forget about these.. The BA112 pair ill bet is killer. But This tall ""212 Magellan""???? Think that is the name... Looks like the bigger daddy of teh killer neox 212 but with more ballz?

If the grill is like the older UBER GB grill that is a good thing. That grill has lasted years of constant abuse and use by me and some crews that i work with. In a road case and out..

The 212 Has what appears to be a circle between the two 12s.. Its barely visible thru the grill. Does anyone know if that is a PORT? Is teh Cab Tri ported at the bottom and TUBULAR type ports on the baffle too?
