There was a time when people were social and went out to events.... now everyone attends via smartphone... how social is that... rhetorical of course...Yes, the lucky ones went into movies and eventually TV. Many black performers lost their way of life. The vast booking network had allowed them to travel to different cities all over North America to work. Circuits continued but they were much smaller. Demand for that sort of live entertainment waned as movies too over.
Not the first time that corporate reorganizations destroyed lives.
