I don't go out to restaurants often but, when I do, I almost always see 2 ppl on what appears to be a date, both on their cell phones. When I had a flip phone. I used to sit in restaurants and pretend to scroll the screen. Just to fit in with the rest of the crowd.

They sure 'nuff aren't communicating with the one they're with. There's no reasonable way to tell if other people on their sm*rphones are communicating with actual human beings. AI has come a long way since ELIZA - Wikipedia
I walked over to BestBuy this evening an bought an HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw. Good thing that I brought my hand truck, it weighs 49lbs. Took it out of the box. There isn’t a manual included. There is a web address. So you have to use the internet to figure put how to use the machine. They stress, don’t turn it on till you go to their site and they take you through all the procedures.
And yes!, they have an app that talks to the printer to control options. Do a firmware update. The app also wants to order paper and toner. At least I can run it on my computer and am not expected to do it from a cell phone.
What ever happened to plug-and-play?
A few "idontworkheres" and a not so wee dram of Irish Whisky, makes for an enjoyable bit of free time.Seems we have discovered reddit. I catch them on You Tube. There are hundreds of them. idontworkherelady , idoworkherelady , entitled parents , prorevenge , pettyrevenge , and nuclearrevenge will keep you entertained for hours. There are several narrators for the reddit channels and a lot of stories overlap. Some are real narrators and some are done with computer voices. I try to avoid the latter as I find them mostly annoying to listen to and you can usually find the same stories with a real narrator. Mr Reddit , Story time , and Daily dose of reddit are my current favorites. Reddit Fairy was fun (and a bit crude) but she's not posting right now.
Don't get me started on what I went through last night getting my wife's new iPad up and running. I think it may be a refurb actually, and therefore Apple's security scheme made it a huge PITA to re-register it to my wife. A return may still happen if we ascertain that it isn't new stock. And of course my wife just told me I should've gone straight to YouTube as soon as things got sticky.![]()
Hope it wasn't reported "stolen"-or 'looted'.I wouldn't accept a refurb or open box if it was sold as new. If you give them the serial number, Apple should be able to tell you if it was previously registered.

Yep, I'm going to jump through to hoops to see what's up. No way a new device should have "no more Apple ID registrations available on this device." I was eventually able to create one on my Windows box that works, the one I initially did on my own iPad and then ported over created havoc.
With apple media players such as itunes you authorize a device to play music. The number of devices that you can authorize under one Apple ID is five. Retired devices need to be deauthorized to keep below the limit of five. But what you encountered with device registrations sounds different.
The nag screen said the quota of different Apple IDs created on the device had been used up, and this is a brand new device. The model number prefix shows it as being new production, not a refurb. It works fine now, so I'm just going to chalk it up to Apple being much like Microsoft: an inscrutable pain in the butt. I'm hardly surprised.
I have zero interest in enforced Cloud storage, or Siri, or giving my real time location data to anyone, so this may not be the best fit...LOL! But it's fine, I usually manage to adapt to horse pucky reasonably well for a geezer. And the pad itself is a killer appliance in many ways.

I don't know how to speak Elvish. I don't know if elves even have grocery lists. I'd bet that Tolkien and Elvis are fast friends though.
