Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

Plans for this weekend include watching my favorite F1 team (the red team) get their backsides handed to them in the German Gran Prix.

I don't get F1 on TV any more but I still follow it fairly avidly. Really wanted to see how Shooey's kid made out in the practice that got scrubbed, but I expect we'll be seeing plenty of him in F1 soon enough.

Chiming in on Saturday for our Friday role [CQ]* call to confirm basic functions are in place. The dressing on my right foot that extends to my knee is scheduled to be either removed (crossing fingers) or replaced on Tuesday. Meanwhile I'm the GOF at the supermarket who uses an electric cart. This is what my F1 has come down to. :roflmao:

Returned from my triumphant lap of the dog food isle with a chewy for Odin.

* cq is editor's markup for "let it stand". In other words, the word in question that looks funny has been checked and determined to be correct. So don't change it in the belief you're more correct, is what CQ means

Yeah. If I do a roll call, it's at the Krispy Kreme.

A very late Friday roll call. Been a very busy day for me, then I fell asleep and woke up in my recliner. Please report that all fingers, toes, appendages are accounted for. It's payday weekend so tomorrow Carey will make me a steak and I get her king crab legs which she loves as much as her native Maine lobsters. We are now filling out the meal with salad and sweet potato for health's sake. Then this weekend I'm going to try and set up a new recording studio in our spare bedroom.

Carey doesn't want me in the shed this winter, although I don't mind a bit of a chill. Sadly, I'm going to throw away a 20 year old artificial Christmas tree and we're getting a small Balsam Hill artificial tree. It's time to downsize, we actually don't buy that much on Christmas anymore. It seems more for the kids than ever. So what say ye, GOF's? What do you have planned for this weekend?
And a late response to the roll call. Finishing up coffee #3, one more than usual, but the engine was a little sluggish getting started this morning. The golfing ladies are playing a major tournament this week, at Aronimink outside Philly, which is a classic course that's giving most of them a challenging time of it. If the men were playing there, they'd be whining that they can't get a level lie nearly anywhere on the course, and the greens have so much undulation they can't get any putts to drop. The women look at what's to be done and go do it, just as in life. So I'm going to watch them instead of watching the men blast it around some contrived modern abomination in Nevada. The ladies pro game is much more relatable to the amateur man's game than the men's pro game is, but most men won't acknowledge it. Though the lady pros would thoroughly demolish those amateur guys on the course any given day.

I always mention to friends that everyone should visit Alaska at least once in their lifetime. It's like a different country altogether.
Well, it is a different country! ;)

...I fell asleep and woke up in my recliner.
Do you recall falling asleep in said recliner?
I have a real Christmas tree in my living room. I don’t decorate it. With sun and some water, it keeps growing.
................

Going to Home Depot on the hunt for wood. Got some new 3M woodworking safety glasses with a Digikey order on Friday. They look geeky enough to do the job.
What job? To make a nice looking finished hole in the ceiling above your growing Christmas tree?

It is important to distinguish Shooey from a shoey!

Let's just say 'I came to laying in my recliner...'

I’m building toys for Santa Claus and Hanukkah Harry. They’ve adopted a distributed manufacturing model this year because of covid. So I’m allowed to work at home. The Christmas tree is mandatory.

God bless you for what you're doing for the kids. I wish I had your talent.

More than a mite worried

One thing I can report in my corporate experience that surprises exactly none here — the higher up on the chain of command who invites me to dinner, the higher probability I am the main course. Dinner with the publisher is hazard-pay worthy. What I never saw, and never hope to see, is the publisher at the after-hours lemonade stand that serves the newspaper crew when the edition's been put to bed.

A life I held, perhaps for a moment in time, as I consider important things like

When I think of MarkBass, I think of Milan-Malpensa. Last I was through (a fair while) it is painted yellow and black. Of late Linate is way easier, and we'll see about that. Don't ever order the sausage butty at Shannon :vomit: Wait, amps, Elf, MarkBass. Is this left and right hemispheres talking?

The one statement I can relate to is-- I like Markbass amps. I don't know why I didn't buy the legendary MB121 combo. I loved it from the moment I heard it. Yet somehow I ended up being a GK guy. I'm happy either way. I guess it was the price they were charging for their amps back then... still like their looks though...

Checking in much later than usual because even though it's a "holiday" weekend, it doesn't look like I'm going to get a day off. One of the tech's that was supposed to be working this weekend called in sick with a cough and a fever...oy. He has been on vacation the last two weeks so I'm not too worried about the 'rona, but a day off would be nice. Of course I am being well compensated...

Here on Sunday on the Isle of Everywhere, I still haven't played a MarkBass. I saw a Jeff Berlin model at a distance at the local youth music school. I was surprised just how big and cube-like it is, and decided I didn't want to carry that anywhere without a dolly. That's my total experience with MarkBass.

Saw a local CL listing for a Kustom 200 head in blue sparkle tuck and roll for $350.
