Well my friends, today I'm 66. Odd, I sure don't feel like those old codgers I used to see when I was young. I think the boomer generation is going to redefine what getting older means. It doesn't mean high pants with suspenders and buttermilk anymore. But I guess we kind of changed a lot of things in our lifetime didn't we?

Wife Carey's making me homemade BBQ pork ribs with coleslaw and baked beans. She wants to bake a cake today but with just two of us here I feel like that's a lot of sugar to have hanging around for the rest of the week. I'm happy to be alive when I've lost so many friends through the years. I lost my kid brother when he was 53, that was hard. But today it's good to be alive! :thumbsup:

Yesterday at work was exciting. We had five F 18's land at our local airport! Again Will was off to the airport to track down the pilots but alas they were in the Coast Guard secured area having coffee. Had they been in the Aero Petro area I could have gotten pics with them and said hi.

We live about five miles from the airport, and Carey was at home vacuuming, getting ready for our weekend. When the F-18's took off she thought either something bad happened or something really big was taking off. She called me at work. I was back in my building but got a chance to see them take off from the fire escape. Man! Talk about powerful sounding! I told Carey about the F-18's. My friend called me and said, "no wonder the enemy scurries like rats when our NAVY PLANES come in!" Edit: he actually said, no wonder they soil themselves, if you get my drift.... ;)

We are all wondering-- why are more and more military aircraft stopping in Sitka? There are no good theories. But these five birds were from the USS Theodore Roosevelt...

When we get home Carey can't wait to be in her own bed. When she came out of her delerium she asked for a dog and I said ANYTHING YOU WANT MY LOVE. So I guess we're on the hunt for a new dog for wife Carey. I left our place in shambles and a local church came in and cleaned it for us? Who says miracles don't happen???

Carey is feeling better but tonight she was kind of hurting. Well, I made the mistake of wanting to watch something besides Dr. Rocky Mountain Vet or Dr. Pol or animals. I said "Please no Animal House tonight..." well that's all it took-- she blew her stack! So I went for a drive to my office to get my new laptop set up.

I know most of you have probably already migrated to Windows 10 but I just got my Windows 10 Dell laptop set up tonight. It's taken me a month and a half to learn all the nuances of the operating system especially in a corporate environment... @BadExample you know what I'm talking about LOL. Well, the laptop is unbelievable. Intel i7 8th generation with 16GB of RAM and a 500GB drive. The thing has a solid state drive and the memory is DDR3 so the whole thing is just a little hot rod. And the laptop has a 12" screen, is about 1/2" thick, and weighs about 2 1/2 pounds.

So, I've played enough. I have to go home and make peace with the Boss and apologize for picking on her while she had a stomach ache about her animal shows. I always have to remember how lucky I am that she's still with me when I watched her helplessly while we flew in a medivac to Seattle. It makes everything else seem so trivial.

We're going shopping and poking through our little town tomorrow. I always enjoy taking Carey out and us riding around together. She makes a very good riding partner. We used to go on long trips together and I loved it.

The more I talk about it-- the more I want to get home! You GOF's have a good weekend, and I'll talk to ya later...

Account for all hands toes appendages accounted for...wife Carey and I are planning on a couple solid days of more spring cleaning. It feels great to toss off the remnants of winter. We have Omaha Steaks Burgers-- they're quite delicious. Also we're making some homemade potato salad Saturday and we'll have that with burgers on Memorial day. I'm putting together my secret baked beans (Bushes BBQ beans and I add onions then BBQ slowly :laugh:)

Then we're going to plant flowers on brother Tom's and Mom and Dad's graves. Mom and Dad were buried together. Tom's buried on the civilian side (about 100 feet from Mom and Dad's grave) and Mom and Dad are interred at the Veteran's National Cemetery as he was a WWII vet. He fought under General MacArthur's wing in the Pacific Theater. My grandfather was in WWI and fought in Europe so I guess the Army is in my blood.

Well the monsoon season has arrived for little Sitka, Alaska. A lot of people (myself included) are thrilled-- the weather temp dropped at least 10-12 degrees overnight. I stepped into the morning and it was very wet and the air was crisp-cool. Ahhhh--- Alaskan weather! This final monsoon is designed to flush the last of the salmon of the creek out to the oceans and it does that very well.

This weekend we're working on clearing our spare bedroom (yeah, it's that bad) of all the excess Amazon purchases we made over the course of last winter 2019 and this year. We've also found we have so many utensils we don't use anymore-- air popcorn machines, hot dog machines, etc. and they are all making the trip to the Salvation Army. Shawshank Redemption is making a big splash this weekend on Turner Classic Movies channel so since we can't go to a show live, we rented it from Amazon and will kind of celebrate along with TCM Alaskan style! :laugh:

Calling all GOF's for roll call. It's Friday! Please report in checking that most fingers and toes and assorted appendages accounted for. Yesterday was delicious. There was a slight mist in the air as I went to work. The air feels crisp with Fall. Multi-colored leaves are blowing across the parking lot and falling on our windshields. I love this time of year.

It hints at good things to come--Halloween, then Thanksgiving, and Christmas. We bought some new curtain rods and curtains for our bedroom so that's my chore for the weekend. I notice that I'm a bit more tired and achy at the end of a work day nowadays. I guess at 68 that's to be expected. This afternoon I have a dental appointment and really looking forward to it. It's the only time that I get to have two pretty ladies lay across my chest and smell so nice! :laugh: The dental clinic I go to is phenomenal--from reception to all procedures. I'm lucky to have such a good group supporting my teeth.

So what say ye, GOF's? What are your plans for this weekend? Anyone getting ready for Fall?

Now that Will has answered that Great Roll Call in the Sky, who will call roll here? Does roll even need to be called? No, it never really did. But Will did it out of an exuberant love for his friends, family, music and the great life he just had to share. No, there's no "need" to call roll. And, surely, no one else could do it like he did it, along with a heapin' helpin' of a tasty slice of the Love of Life. :(

LOL that seems like a reasonable plan.

I've been playing aroune a lot with my avatars. I've decided to go ahead and wrap up four or five songs I've been producing and put them together as a EP release. Since I've always balked at finishing up because all independent music ends up in a black hole, the EP obviously has to be called "Songs for the Black Hole." Current avatar is what I'm planning for the cover, minus the text :)
