As in got some vertebrae locked down with titanium...but I’ve been known to play redneck fusion a time or two
That's good to know. I've got a bench top mill and a lathe and I was thinking that if I ever needed more spinal fusion work done, I'd give the DIY approach a try. I'm sure there are videos on YouTube that show how to do it.

Okay, aI've been grumpy as can be, and feel older by the minute. I have spent three weekends and all my free time within a two-week stretch helping my mother move. I have missed band practice twice, and will today as well, but for a different reason: Did you know the Paramounts changed their name? They are gigging as "Procol Harum" and in town today.
But this mother-moving chore is really taking a toll. I don't recommend hoarding over 50 years marriage's worth of STUFF. Someone's gotta get rid of it, and in the end you can't take it with you.

I'm an only child, and one of my mother's big gifts to me is that she has been putting her affairs in order for a few years now.
Her apartment is very comfortable, but pretty lean at this point. She has passed many things off to the grandkids, and shared the stories behind each gift. I'm not going to be going through 100 boxes, wondering what everything is!
It's one of the many things I love about her- she's very aware of her impact on her surroundings, and doesn't want to leave family and friends with a mess to sort out.
It's only appropriate for someone who is very fit physically, but has had multiple ischemic attacks, and is 93.
She could live another decade, or pop off next week.
I got a brand new Ibanez SR300E lefty from Guitar Center online. Even with shipping to Alaska it was half of what I would have paid "brand new," and as you can see the bass is brand new anyway. One of those lucky draws I guess. The little amp is an Eden EC8 and it's highly recommended. I don't know how Eden does it but even with the smallest practice amp it has that excellent tone Eden is known for. The low volume keeps me from cranking the amp too loud in the living room when I get excited over a song... and the wife comes out with a rolling pin... LOL

Nah...that’s an myth. Redneck fusion is some of the Earnest Tubb music with Leon Rhodes, et al, in which ET just lets the band rip.

Nice bass. It must be an illusion, it looks like it’s strung right handed.
The Eden looks like a nice size for the living room. Low power consumption which is good. Only not being a tube amp, it can’t serve as a space heater.
Wilson has quite a bushy tail, like a fox. Dogs seem to know when a winter is going to be colder in any given year, they get an extra thick coat well before the cold sets in. They are way better at predicting the weather than the meteorologists. Like geese that come back to the same pond year after year, they have abilities well beyond ours.
As nice as the on demand capacity may be, I will always prefer to outright own the movies and music I choose to enjoy. CDs, BluRay and DVD discs, LPs, whatever...don’t suffer from logjams, satellite disruption, sunspots, etc, and I only pay for them once.

Actually, no illusion. I do play the strings right handed! Actually Shadow is the dog, and Wilson is the volleyball in the left side of the picture. But Shadow is gorgeous and as kind as they get. The guys call him a "chick magnet" because all the ladies in town love to pet him. Of course he's happy to oblige.
I also came to the realization that I'd been suckered into Blu-Ray. I've noticed even my older plain DVD's play with high clarity on the newer TV's. Older DVD's I can even play on most computers. You can't with Blu Ray. Dang! Wish I saw that coming. So guess who's back to buying regular DVD's over Blu-Ray! Only I didn't tell wife because she already warned me and I don't want her saying "I told you so!"

I’m a lefty that was forced to learn to play right handed. My music school didn’t belive that there should be left handed playing. The orchestra mentality.

Yeah man..we’re so old school (whatever that means) that we have a separate player into a TV set. No computer stuff for watching movies and such
I was actually given the choice.
We were living in the British midlands in the early 60's, and all the iconic American guitars were expensive and hard to get. My dad suggested that I at least try playing righty, because the choice of instruments is so much wider.
Playing righty meant that I got to play all his beautiful archtop guitars, and I wasn't all that strongly-handed anyway. So it was never really a serious question as far as I was concerned.
Steve, I'm glad you posted that. I'm also pretty ambidextrous. I have a bit of scar tissue on the tip of my left angry driver finger that gets pretty sore after an hour of practice. I get arm and hand pain and numbness on the right, seriously agrivated by playing long and fast. Maybe I should try flipping the bass, and if that works well get a proper lefty bass... Or just Jimmy Hendrix it with the bass I have.
