Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

I guess we were pretty tough at one time, Paul. Used to work all day Friday, then head for the club. Would start playing, but the crowd didn't show up until 10:00. Then, everyone wanted to be sure to stay until closing - 3:00am. After the gig, we'd be too wired up to go to sleep, so it was off to an all-night burger joint. Next thing you knew, the sun was coming up. We called it, "Living the Dream" and sometimes it was like "Living in a Dream".

I remember those days too. Worked all day. Got home to find my supper almost ready and a bath drawn, didn't have a shower in those days. Eat a short nap and out to play a six nighter plus matinee on the Saturday with a band called Haywire. Sunday we'd strip the gear down and move it to the next location. Set up and sound check that also served to put together new material. Monday it all started over again. All for the princely sum of $150 each. Looking back though I realized that the day job paid the mortgage and Haywire put food on the table. :D

Okay, I get it: I live in the wetlands, a swamp, but I'm over 100 miles north of our "coast." The damn rain hasn't stopped more than a day for more than 10 days. I've literally torn 3 basses apart and got one back together since it won't stop raining. Good thing I got my short order cook job because there is no carpentry, landscaping, etc. in this mess.
Damn dog, Duke, still sets about killing things, but he's put on a belly during the winter and isn't quite as fast as the rabbits anymore/yet (water's slowing him down). The homestead is high above any ditches/crawfish field levees, and the gravel road isn't flooded yet, but the yard is almost 3 inches deep in the H2O.
fnord!

Feeling very much the GOF at the moment.

Continued mild pain and sensitivity in my right foot (recovering from an MRSA), sore lower back from pushing my car after I ran out of gas on Wednesday night, and wicked bursitis in one shoulder, probably from obsessive use of my iPad to monitor TB.

$&@!!!

Sounds like you're suffering from post-partum Mardi Gras Blues Syndrome.

I remember in the very early 80's pulling into Alberta Canada headed for Brooks. Middle of the night and Journey's Who's Crying Now on the radio. Three of us (trio) in the front seat of the Econoline. As we drove in the dark we could see Brooks street lights from miles out. That was my living the dream. Canada was unbelievable in those days. Steak houses. Bar and meal tabs playing in nice hotels. Done at midnight! :) And God! About that Alberta beef!

Then turned around and played all over Montana. Moving from gig to gig was a royal pain. The towns were so far apart, but then again, nice clubs, great Montana beef LOL. And those sweet blonde Montana girls... ;) sigh...........

My wife turned into a permaculture nut and urban organic farmer a few years ago.

We don't have a front or back lawn any more, but we eat way better, and get sick less often. We have a young son with Cystic Fibrosis, and he is defying all predictions in terms of how slowly his symptoms are developing. He has rocketed from the bottom of the growth charts to above the 50th percentile in a relatively short time.

I think his progress has a lot to do with whole foods and organic/free range, as well.

Of course, that just gives me more reasons to be a GOF. Not only is the Man messing with our food supply, but the wife and I are starting to act like a cross between dirty hippies and urban foodies. If I start wearing skinny jeans, just shoot me.

Plus, I can't say "get off my lawn" any more, because I don't have one!
