Just lets you know a distributor, store, specialist laughs all the way to the bank when you spend $1000+ for a bass. Really laughs when you spend $2000+ !!How can they sell this for $140?
And I just thought of this, Fender Jazz basses have two different lengths of pickups, the bridge is longer than the neck pick up. Glarry may be using only the neck pick up length in both positions. You might be able to.use a bridge length jazz pick up in there but again, get your measuring stick out first. My 6'er comes in today.. I hope the routes are cut nicer than my other Glarry.. Congrats!Got my Sixer! fit and finish is excellent! No fret sprout, no flaws in paint, parts rotate smoothly. Have to do a set up, if I can see anything bad it’s that the plastic on the pick ups is super hard to remove. Will report back after set up and playing.View attachment 4836778
SweetI received my Glarry GIB 6'er and the fit, finish and quality is all absolutely stellar for $139 - happy as can be on this purchase! A more full in depth review will be uploaded tomorrow. View attachment 4837016
I just posted a better pic for now. I'll upload a review tomorrow afternoon. So far tho, no dead frets, no sharp frets, no buzzing or humming, needs a setup that I'll do, neck is the typical Glarry neck, thick but because it is wide, it feels good. Finish is perfect. And?
Well, I know that mark up can get silly as products get passed along the retail chain, on the way to the end user, but I can't even build a bass myself,....with the cheapest possible parts and material, for $140.Just lets you know a distributor, store, specialist laughs all the way to the bank when you spend $1000+ for a bass. Sorry to hear this, did you receive a solution from the after-sales staff? Or you can provide us with your order number and we will follow up directly for you.My 6'er comes in today.. Glarry is still growing, and will continue to expand the range of developments and upgraded accessories, etc. next. Please pay attention to Glarry. ThanksSo, why not have more to offer for those who are specifically buying them to mod them.
I know from the club thread on TB, people have had trouble finding new pick guards that fit correctly on Glarries. Changing tuners, bridges and electronics is different. Some have certain things they look for and other brands offer them but not everyone has the tools or experience to mess with a pick guard that doesn’t fit correctly.
I’ve also wondered why y’all don’t offer just necks or bodies. I know I would be interested in a finished body that i could mess with or a different neck to try out. I could buy a full bass for cheap but then I have the rest of the pieces laying around that I would upgrade anyway.
Thank you for sharing such a detailed 6 string bass review. The past 35 yeras I've paid 3-4x the price for basses equal to this. This bass took me about 15 minutes to set up to my liking, it has 2 truss rods and for me, that made it a little tricky. You have to make small adjustments, returned and check till it's right. The finish is perfectly polished. No streaks, no buffer burns.. just a perfect finish. The bridge is nice, easy adjustment, and the edges are not sharp, a well made bridge. The pots. Dime sized, they have workable range, but it'll be one of my first changes. The pickups are medium output, quiet and sound decent. The neck fits well, no gaps or loose pocket. I would have rather it had a neck plate (just my preference) rather it has 4 ferrules and 4 bolts attatching the neck to yhe body. It's stable and well done. Maple neck, looks like rosewood but I can't confirm. Dot markers are done well and flush. Frets (huge surprise) no fret sprout or sharp ends.. they're level and playable. No rattles.. the control cavity is just that. It's not shielded, the pots are typical dime size but have a decent and usable range. To controls basically suck, either treble is full or off. Strap buttons are junk.. get new buttons for your strap or get used to picking it up off the floor. Scarf joint is nicely done and you can't feel that it's there. There was some rough areas in the neck that I buffed off with 0000 steel wool, now neck is smooth and polished. Tuners work! and they work well, not changing them. The nut, I could swear it is a synthetic material.. is a matte color and has a softer feel than hard black plastic. Cut well too. I may have been a lucky recipient of a bass that was put together with a little love.. or not as time will tell. Mind you I didn't receive it in perfect playing condition.. I did have to do some set-up work but that is expected. Is this worth the price? You better believe it is..
Note: it does have the typical neck dive, nothing a decent wide strap doesn't cure.. weight feels good, not light like the usual Glarry.. I'm going to put some flatwound strings on this Sunday, it should be a world of difference. Don't judge this bass on the manufacturer the stringsit ships with suck horribly and will contribute to a crap tone.. get good set of strings on it, make yiur adjustments and okay. I'll bet you will consider this the best $140 you've spent yet
Fur those considering trying out a six string, I'd say go for it, you can do it, easy to get used to.
