Makes sense. Here in NJ all non-essential retail is supposed to be closed. Unfortunately that includes music stores.

I suppose this means the online items that are located in those stores will be unavailable to purchase, but I assume the website will not reflect this. So, for anyone buying from the used site, take special note of the store location.

I noticed this morning , that on their used site, there was suddenly a lot less items available compared to yesterday. Not sure if this is because of store closings, but it does make one wonder.

Yes, I would think that as stores close, they can't ship so they are dropping the inventory.

I'm good with the music stores closing. If I go to a shop and test an instrument, I'd really like to be assured the individual before me didn't have COVID-19.

Oh, another fear/thought. Any instrument bought and returned to a music shop over the last few weeks needs to be completely sanitized before offering for sale again.

Per the latest information, the virus can survive on surfaces for hours to a couple of days. (Not weeks.) That said, I’d also wipe down an unfamiliar instrument with something finish-compatible before digging in.

Notice all the stores that are in "shelter in place" states are no longer appearing in search results. That's why there is a dramatic reduction in the number of available basses. I see no basses from California, New York, etc.

Just checked and none of the stores in Mass, RI and CT are listed in search results. Still can shop in NH though (so far). Live free or die!

The rule of thumb use to be no negotiating until the item has been for sale in the store for 90 days. But anything could be possible nowadays. I would call.

No discounts. Even if it’s been 90 days. I tried at a guitar center Hollywood after being on the sales floor since mid August, went back early January to see it still hanging but with a bit of abuse judging from the body. Manager still wouldn’t budge a discount. Oh well

I was able to negotiate discounts on two used bass purchases ($1200+ ea) from them about 5 yrs ago, but not since then. They must have changed their policy.

I think it just depends on the management honestly or how they’re feeling that day.
