I have around 30, but I don't use them all on bass. They are fun to mess around with, but I wouldn't consider many crucial for bass. For bass I mostly use an Aguilar Octimizer or Boss OC2, Aguilar compressor, and various envelope followers – usually a Mutron, EQD Spatial Delivery, or Aguilar Filter Twin.

Envelope filter, auto wah, phaser, chorus, overdrive, distortion, tuner (plus a wahwah I don't use anymore, and a looper that I still want to learn how to use): this is my pedalboard,
BUT
most of my dates are on double bass, played strictly clean (just a Headway pre to mix piezo and mic);
and for my latin jazz gigs I play my fretless with no fx's;
THEREFORE
my pedals are in most case an unnecessary extra for few gigs per year.

(could I live without pedals? maybe yes)

Let's see...

Homemade Fuzz Face
Homemade Rat
EHX Big Muff Pi
EHX Q-Tron Plus
Mooer Rumbledrive
Mooer Bitcrusher
Ibanez Fat Cat
Boss LS-2
Catalinbread Ottava Magus
Korg Pitchblack
BBE Optostomp
Some Zoom guitar multi fx, not sure

Makes 12.

Most of the time, I get by with just a tuner and a comp, I'll break out the others for original material.

Boss tu-3w
Bass Big Muff
Sansamp programmable
Aguilar Tone Hammer
Broughton audio high pass filter
ISP Decimator

In that order on my board. I have had a bunch more but they are now gone.
I have a boss looper pedal I keep at home for writing also and a BBE Sonic stomp that his been for sale for about a year on the super cheap.

I see these threads around and think how silly people are...check out this silliness:

Loop Master single looper (everything on the board goes through this)
ZVex Mastertron
Ibanez Bass Synth - analog fuzz with an enevelope and LP filter
Boss OC 2 Octav'er' - my heart and soul pedal
Boss GE 7 2B
One Control Parallel Looper (70% effect, 30% Dry Bass)
- TC Spark Mini (love this pedal!) - boost what comes after it a bit
- DOD/Black Arts Toneworks Boneshaker
- Blackout Effectors Musket
- EQD Hoof
- Moog MF Drive
- Fulltone Fat Boost 3 (loooooooove this pedal as a break up amp)
- JHS Passive Volume Pot - lower volume from the previous spark boost
- Boss BF 2B
- Boss CEB 3*
* Back to the return in the One Control
Go Go Horizon Tuner
Keeley Dyna Trem
MXR Bass envelope filter
SP Compressor
- Back to Loop Master

I have a dealy/reverb unit i put together like Voltron
Mooer Slow Engine
Moore Echo/Verb
EH Memory Boy (square one) - into Expresson Pedal (Visual Volume pedal - TRS cable to make it an expression
TC Ditto Looper

This thing is like a paint pallet. Take it out to gig in a couple groups. Don't always use them all at a gig but it is a lot of fun!

I'm still married

When I converted an ESP LTD F Junior guitar into a sub scale bass because it had a "metal" look, I bought a Behringer SF300 Super Fuzz if I ever had an occasion to go there, I never have and haven't even opened the box (do I even look "metal"). I was also given a Boss AB-2 by a member of my uke group and again never had a need to use it. So I voted 2, but I also think there should a 0 choice because even though I own 2, I don't ever use any. (But I do like the bass a lot.)

I considered 0 as two different options.
Like this:

0: I only use rack Effects
0: I’m trolling the Effects Form

I figured that regardless of how many you use, you still own two. I didn’t want to make a fun post too serious, this isn’t a census.
