So only one pedal that actually affects the sound, and the tuner is the only one I really need - though even with the tuner I don't need it in pedal format. If my amp had a variable HPF I probably wouldn't have bothered building a pedalboard at all, I'd just use a headstock clip tuner and leave it at that.

(Since this is Talk Bass I'm not counting anything on my guitar pedalboard.)

With my previous band I used a DI that had compressor and EQ built in and I ran that straight to FOH - no stomp pedals. With my new band, I need a little dirt, so I assembled a chain form my box of misfit pedals:

I have 6 in my current chain (tuner-> MXR compressor <always on> -> MXR Envelope - > POG Octave-> MXR Chorus -> EHX Analogizer). I don't stomp mid song, just use them with my tone knob to adjust my sound on a song to song basis. Still, I'm always playing with which pedal/combination I like best with each song (never all at one time).

I have a few others still on the bench (EBS Octave, Boss Flanger, MXR 10 band EQ, Ditto Looper and Morely Volume/Wah. I feel like there are one or two more - jut coming to me at the moment.

I like it simpler, but when I need to change up my sound, the pedals are there.
