I Present the IdiotBox Effects's Blower Box

Well I just listened to clips of the Mini and the Beta. IMO, the BB does a much better job of all out distortion than the Mini, and it seems much simpler to use. The Beta however, sounded awesome! It kinda reminded me of the El Oso in the ToneFactor clip. At least in the higher register. But all the other demos I've heard of the El Oso and from my own personal experience of trying it out, I really don't think it's one that I'd like too much. Now I might have to go for the Beta eventually.

A Beta, a Barbershop, an SA OFD, a Wounded Paw Blender v4, everyone should have that on their board next to their BB :)

My all out OD is definitely covered. My mild OD is handled by my B3K, though I'm also working on heavier settings. My very mild OD/slight tube break up is still up for grabs. That Beta sound might be what I'm after.

It'll be a tough call between the Beta and/or the VMT/VMTD from Darkglass for the slight tube breakup. I'll probably end up with both and get rid of whichever one I use the least. Only problem is I'm so broke right now, I can't PAY attention!

I like my amp EQ and my board has an MB200 to use as DI, emergency backup etc, so the VMTD is redundant. Maybe I'll check the VMT though.

So speaking with a friend who tried one, he thought it was a bit of a treble pusher. Discussing it he plays with his tweeter on full, and I usually don't. He felt the treble balance was more in the 8/9 o'clock range rather than noon.

Yeah going just from the Blower Box clips I've heard, it sounds nothing like the Mini or Beta, which are fat, tubey, 'soft' type overdrives. Once my BB gets here I'll have all three at my disposal to play with :)

I didn't think I could love this pedal any more than I already did. With my setup, this boost works awesomely and is a huge benefit. Huge. I needed it to get it out there in the mix. Bad a**. Eatin it up.

Hi Greg. glad to hear that you're diggin' the booster. :)

I really like the Mini, you can get some really neat tubey sounds out of it. It's not sharp/trebly like a B3K or Agro. It's fat and round, but not as thick as the SolidGold Beta. It's great to get that Allen Woody sound from the first couple of Gov't Mule albums. The Bias control lets you get super sputtery if you like that. It reminds me kind of a Fuzzricious Dark Driving but can get cleaner and of course sputtery. It's got a lot of range and you can boost/cut bass and treble. Fantastic pedal. I almost hate that it overlaps with my Beta so much as I'd like to keep it!

+1 I have the Mini and run it after the BB. The Mini is my favorite OD for bass right now, and it sounds fantastic when my son uses it for guitar. Especially happy with the limited top-jacks version, which looks great and takes less space on my board.
