I Present the IdiotBox Effects's Blower Box

We recently wrote a new song and I'm using the BB through out the song. I'm still trying to settle on a gain level. I was bumping the bass and gain up to around 2 o'clock and treble just around 8 or 9 o'clock. Bumping the gain down to noon or even 11 really helps with the volume for me. If it's much past 1 o'clock it gets pretty crazy. Which is good sometimes. But I need to have a tame really low yet raunchy dirt for this particular song. The BB fits it perfectly. I'll have to make a demo track with the BB this weekend to show you guys.
Dear God! Those settings are "tame" on your rig? If I had the gain that high, I'd kill my rig for sure. I've got it about 9, max 10:30. Treble about 9 as well, but bass at 3.

As far as your previous post, it's a good enough idea to double-post!

just an FYI.
my boost mod doesn't change the frequency response at all. it's all post, so it doesn't change the gain of the pedal either. it's a 100% flat/clean Jfet boost added to the output of the pedal's circuit.
all it does is increase the output.

Just got mine in the mail. Looks mean and is well built. I happen to have a smaller 1x15 combo here at the office with a Warwick Rockbass. Plugged it in with everything at noon and it sounds AWESOME. Really does add some serious lows with that bass knob. It does not sound like a Rat but it has Rat characteristics, but it is not identical to my Iron Pig or Rat Tail.

Can wait to try it through the SVT.

Just snagged mine in the classifieds. Wow! I had just picked a Bearfoot BBBOD up last week and was stunned at the sound quality. This is just as impressive, though a much different style.

Through my Barefaced Super Compact, it sounds great. I haven't quite got the highs EQ'd right for a direct recording (but I just got it an hour ago). My test run, just for giggles, is a bit fizzy, but shows where I'm heading with it.

Hmmm. Classic problem w voiced cabs. Settings that work on the amp > speaker don't work on DI > software. Time to fine tune. Maybe I can find a cab model or speaker sim setting that gets me there.

I use it with my Schecter Ultra VI a lot. I set it for relatively high gain distortion and it adds the punch and depth that the VI can sometimes lack, then I ride the volume knob to go from clean-ish to massively overdriven as needed. Great in a 3-piece band where I have to fill in on some rhythm guitar space when the guitarist takes a solo.

When I had the blower box I thought it sounded much better at low gain. The more I turned up the gain the more I got lost in the mix. The Rat Tail/Rat King is a great rat clone that can also handle low gain nicely. Another one I have been interested in is the Blakemore ROUS. Seems super versatile and uses the LM308 chip.

Thanks. All of the demos seen I've are too high gain. My Rat already does that. I wan't to see if it does low gain better than my Turbo Rat with Vintage Rat mods (gifted to me by a lovely TBer).

Somewhere in this thread there are demos of the BB low gain settings. I think JohnK did a demo as well. You can check it out on his site. As far as the RK or ROUS I am not sure if there are any low gain demos. Most people who look into buying a RAT aren't too interested in their low gain capabilities.
