I had only one bass for 10+ years and it was my Fender Musicmaster.

So I voted no since I would stay with that. I am not aware or at least haven't ever seen a short scale P bass so that would be the primary reason for not even searching for one.

I've got two nice Precision basses (and a Thunderbird Precision hybrid) that I thoroughly enjoy. But if I could only have one bass, there is no question, my 1970 Guild Starfire bass.

I can get the "P" sound out of 2 of my current basses (one is a P/J and the other has a pair of split coils) so I don't see the need to downgrade to fewer tonal options.

Not for me. While I love my P bass(es), if I could only choose 1, it would either be my Geddy Jazz or Ibanez ATK300. Def not my P though. Maybe even a Gibson EB4.

Maybe, I have a G&L LB-100 and I could see making do with just that. It's a great bass!

right now I only own a Warwick Thumb BO6 and it is fine like it. I can play whatever with it because you know EQ ... I never try to have all the tone ... I just want a tone that work.

I wait for a Warwick Thumb BO6 fretless because the only thing that can't be close is the fretless sound and so I have it.
