I’m looking for some instrumental prog rock/metal recommendations. I’m not looking for something too aggressive, but I do want something with a bit of bite to it... Songs like Rush’s “La Villa Strangiato” or Metallica’s “The Call of Ktulu” are along the lines of what I’m looking for.

Not metal, but Ozric Tentacles did a lot of instrumental stuff of a prog-like nature. There's stuff by Camel, Amon Dul, etc, King Crimson, and about a dozen Italian prog bands to check out, too.

Absolutely fantastic!!

I have not been much into more "classic" Prog Rock really. (more modern prog rock and prog metal). My band mates demanded that I'd come with them to go see the Neal Morse band. So I did, I am lucky that I did.

It was the Similitude of a Dream tour, and boy was that worth it, totally mad and killer musicians each on his own and together. Still stoked, can't wait for them to come around again!
