Iron Ether Subterranea

Bingo. If Taylor had kept us all in the dark that would have been a separate matter, but he's been incredibly forward about progress, including personal stuff we had no business knowing. He's a class act and one helluva builder; the wait is definitely worth it.

Can the SubT do a good clean lower octave? I don't always use my octave fr synthy tones, but rather as a BIG note or for a low D on my four string. Just curious if it sounds natural or still synthy

Yes, absolutely.

Just use the octave voice with the filter at noon or below and blend the clean to taste with the synth voices off.

The SubT can definitely act as a standard octaver. As you turn the filter knob it gets closer to the synthy OC-2 sound and then much more gritty but at lower filter levels it can sound very much like the MXR's "Girth" voicing or like the EBS on its low setting - fat and relatively natural sounding.

Hi ... I have a very early Sub T. I was wondering if getting the pedal updated was a good idea ... And what the upgrade does ...

Definitely a good idea.

The upgrade primarily reduces the background noises from the synth voices that are there even when they are turned completely off. It also makes the filter control more useful and reduces the overall gain of each voice knob to make it easier to balance the overall volume.

IMO it just makes it a MUCH more useful pedal.

After Taylor let me know he couldn't replicate the fault I was experiencing with my Polytope I elected to go with a replacement and he indicated it would be awhile before it showed up. They're still getting through the pile so patience is helpful.
