Iron Ether Subterranea

Haha for sure! Yeah there is this band called the royal noise. They played at the dunedin brewery last month. The bass player had the Subterranea pedal! This pedal was amazing! I went right up to him during the break. He was one of the lucky ones to get it right when IE first announced them.

Okay, got a problem with my SubT. Sent this to Taylor and Don but haven't heard back yet. Let's see what y'all think.

I had the pedal cut out on me in the middle of a song at rehearsal. No octave side, very little sound from the synth sides. After some toying this morning I found that when the synth stiches are turned to the left I hear essentially clean tone with a little bit of hiss from the synths. If either switched is moved to the middle or right position I hear the octave but it is a little more subdued and synthy/round than the effect normally sounds.

I tried swapping power supplies, cables and instruments.

Thoughts?

So after playing around with it I can sincerely say that it is definitely worth the wait. I hate to be one of those guys but it's true, Taylor went above and beyond with this little guy.

No clips yet; Ableton Live 8 is having an issue recognizing my serial number and Audacity compresses too much to get a good-sounding clip so once I get my Live 8 set up I'll shoot y'all a clip. But for now it just sounds so damn good by itself and compliments every other pedal I have.

And I ordered on 9/12/13.

So it arrived, Monday! Finally had some time last night with it, and my initial impression is that this is a really useful pedal for my needs.

I have questions for other users tho:

1) Do you notice that the Octave & Clean are very loud, and the Synth voices are quieter - I suppose the peaks are loud, but the overall sound is quiet.

2) The volume envelope is very dynamic, playing quiet results in really quiet & playing hard results in high peaks. I was really hoping this wasn't the case, but is what I hear. The freqbox is like this too... do you also find this?

3) tracking... the notes don't always sustain, and the octave voice jumps up to normal - pitch is correct, just not fully sustaining as long as I play.

I haven't heard any of these issues in the demos, and was wondering if any of you experience this? Based on the feedback, I will follow up with Taylor if need be. (would rather not bug him so everyone can get pedals!)

Hey A8,

So, I am finding results similar to yours, although I take them as nuances of the pedal and no real problem for me:

1) Do you notice that the Octave & Clean are very loud, and the Synth voices are quieter - I suppose the peaks are loud, but the overall sound is quiet.

Yep, both have more headroom than the synth voices, but I twiddle knobs to taste.

2) The volume envelope is very dynamic, playing quiet results in really quiet & playing hard results in high peaks. I was really hoping this wasn't the case, but is what I hear. The freqbox is like this too... do you also find this?

Yes, I find that it is very responsive to your playing. I prefer when effects are responsive to more aggressive playing, but that's me.

3) tracking... the notes don't always sustain, and the octave voice jumps up to normal - pitch is correct, just not fully sustaining as long as I play.

I've heard some notes warble, but I expect this from an analog octave/synth. I'm only using active basses with my SubT.
