It's Christmas Day! Who's practicing today?

I'm with the OP. Daughter wanted to stay the night at her Grandparents' place, and the wife was sick in bed. After taking care of her and making sure all was done, I threw the headphones on and blasted through the setlist a couple times to tighten up anything that needed it. VERY therapeutic as well as productive!

Happy X-mas and what-not.

I was gonna practice but I got side tracked.

Sure, why not? It’s like any other day as far as I’m concerned. We have to go to some brunch later on for a while, but I’ll probably be noodling around at least when we get back. I’m just glad that when I scroll though the TV channel listings, I won’t be inundated with all those Hallmark Channel style ‘heartwarming’ Christmas related movies full of pretty people with first world problems for much longer.
I second that emotion

That would be me. I could take the day off from playing, but I don't want to. Already had to get up early and drive around to take care of other people's cats, and I have a few chores to do to get ready for my dinner guests, and there are more cats to feed later on. But in-between I will run through some stuff I'm learning, just because it makes me happy. How about you, what are your plans?
Wrong forum I know but does guitar count? I played it all day and switched to bass occasionally while writing a new song. I was confined to my room with upper respiratory crap!

Thanks, everyone, for responding. It's great to see that I'm not the only who practices to soothe the soul on a holiday. My guests came at 5 and we had a nice dinner; they were here for just a couple of hours and when they left I was exhausted and ready for bed, since I had to get up early again this morning. Nice to see some of us got nice musical presents this year. My husband and I long ago agreed to not exchange gifts because we both dislike the obligation that comes with the holidays. I tend to treat it much like any other day, as much as I can, but we do like to have a nice dinner and invite people who otherwise might be alone. There was music, wine, merriment, food, pumpkin pie, and laughter. Not a bad day!

I played my bass for 5 minutes, and my wife asked why I was being antisocial!
Does she not know who she married?

Ha- first off, Im loving this thread. second - I get the antisocial remark all the time when I pick up an instrument while people are around. 5 minutes is all I ask! I totally practiced today. also had to tweak through some intonation things after trying new strings - on a new (used) bass! Therapy for the soul. Fun ahead.

No practice. After a 9 to midnight Christmas Eve Open Mic gig, I jammed in an 8 to midnight Christmas Day OPen Mic gig. Brought in Christmas jammin' live and left it the same way.

During the holidays I try to not even look at my bass gear. We have three daughters who live all over the USA, plus this year two family reunions. Started driving on Thanksgiving weekend, and have two more trips to go. By mid-January we'll have driven about 5,000 miles. Rotated the tires this morning. BUT . . . once home, I'll be right back playing and hacking almost every day. Oh, on the turntable question above - my sister is still playing discs on her 1960ish DUAL 1009 turntable. Still sounds great. Direct drive and expensive stylus. But worth what our Dad paid for it back when new. You might find one for sale at a good price.
