Jule Amps Monique part 5

I have actually been running my V4b and a pair of 210AV cabs on stage or an 810. The V4b has a parallel -15db input, I am using it as an output to Monique so that I can use Monique as a DI only. Changes at the amp including gain settings have no effect on what Monique sees. I can then dedicate Monique as my DI signal, I am setting the XLR out on the back with the knob completely on and everything on the front is pushed in, so no boost. This allows me to separately dial in my stage rig and FOH.

If one has a strong back and deep pockets, one could pair Monique with a Invalid Link Removed. If power needs are more modest and one has a tube amp with an effects loop, one could try running into that (I think someone mentioned the idea of running into one of Jule's guitar amps, earlier). If you're into the audiophile stuff and have a home stereo tube amp, you could probably run into that as long as you figured out the sensitivity/impedance/wiring satisfactorily -- that would be more just to try it, I think, as I don't know that such a setup would be practical or travel well.

None of those would give you a tube amp in one chassis, a la an SVT (or whatever), but they'd be different avenues to experiencing Mo with a tube power section. From what I've read of the Demmie, that could be a pretty killer combo if you're willing to lug a 4U power amp. If you're asking about an all-tube Monique, though, you just might be!

Many folks have used Monique with a tube power amp or tested it with one. The question was if Jule had been asked to make an integrated all tube bass amp with Mo as a front end. He has not but I think it is a matter of not having the time to design and not that he doesn't want too

Sure. I read the question and your answer. Being that "none have succeeded" in commissioning an all-tube Monique, I suggested some possible alternatives.

I was unaware that several people had asked Jule to build such a beast -- if it does come about someday, I'm sure it'll be a formidable amp.

Just from my perspective here , but the M700 sounds so good, that I just don't see a reason to go with an all tube setup. I left tubes once I got my first Walter Woods MI-100-8. It sounded
as much like my Ampeg B-15N as I care to concern myself with at a fraction of the weight and 4x the power's. Julie's M700 paired with the Monique is as good as it gets. Just my take of course.:)

P.S. I've only played through a V4B rig once. It had the original folded horn cabinet, so my experience with big all tube amps
is pretty limited. ;)

shells. I use a QSC K8 for smaller gigs, but it definitely has some tonal limitations. I'm looking into some custom built powered cabinets for my DB rig

I just bought it home from work just to try. It was a lot of fun. If you are looking for powered cabs save yourself a lot of trouble and find a Bergantino IP310. It just does not get any better, and believe me I have tried. Obviously YMMV.

Playing with a sealed cabinet; 210av or the 810 flatback I actually prefer my V4B reissue to the Monique /m700 set up. And the ampeg is also louder. I've tried using Mo into the power section of the V4b but the ampeg pre plays better so I run parallel out of the -15db input to use Monique as my DI. If there is a great FOH and I'm just monitoring myself on stage I will use the M700.

Since I'm no longer using ported cabs my experience is unique to my situation.

I'm surprised that the 100 Watt V-4B is louder than the 400-700 Watt M700. Is it a voicing thing? I'd think either amp would be able to push the little 210 to its limits and that the M700 would have have more than enough juice to max out the flatback 810 (though I'm not sure about the V-4B).

In part it's the weight behind the notes but sealed cabs can handle a bit of tube distortion.

Deciding on whether to go Monique or Demeter for a tube pre-amp as a compliment to my Mesa Prodigy. Anyone tried using the power section of the Mesa D800 bypassed? I picked one up at a great price and would imagine it should be more than fine. But with quality pre-amps such as these two, I certainly don't want to lose any of the magic.

My experience with the Monique and M700 basically parallels yours. That said, I recently "upgraded" to an M2500. Jule graciously allowed me to keep the M700 until I've had time to do a comparison of the two, which I did, but unfortunately only under bedroom conditions until last night. I played the M2500 with a Monique and one Fearless F112 at a jam session. Admittedly not at normal gig volume (I never put the M2500 volume past 10 o'clock) but the verdict is: the M700 is going back to Jule. The M2500 basically provided all the goods as the M700, only the goods were gooder: more punch, more articulation, slightly quicker, a sense of having endless headroom, etc. The one caveat is that due to the M2500's massive power, one needs to be very careful with the volume knob.

I too see no reason to explore using a tube power amp.

Not sure what the input sensitivity is on the M2500 (Jule's website shows for the M700, the input sensitivity is -26db, but not sure what that is in mV).
With that much power on tap I would have to try plugging my bass guitar directly into the M2500 to see how it sounds.
With certain bass guitars & certain power amps it works really well.
You might check with Jule 1st, but I don't see any way that anything would get jacked up (except maybe your ears - careful with that volume knob).
