Jule Amps Monique part 5

I have a Monique 700 as well so maybe I can help.
The connection between the integrated MO pre and the M700 amp is only interupted when you plug into the "Amp In" jack.
You should be able to use the "Amp Out" jack with no loss of functionality of the amp as a whole.

So if I was to crank the line level you get insane volume with the master around 10:00 with a very hairy preamp gain.

A nice gig volume seems to be the line level pulled at either side of noon and the master no more then noon. It gives a nice articulate tone with plenty of dynamic headroom from light plucking over the fingerboard to a deep dig with the DB meat paws to put some grind in the notes.

We will see if I can convince the guys to carry the old flatback down the old dungeon stairs. I'm sure they'll have some different approaches to the settings I can share with everyone.

This has been exactly my experience with the Monique>M2500>F112x2.

I believe there was a theoretical discussion if it could happen. Not that it did.

I've only had the amp at home but I do have isolated circuits in my practice room and had no problems.

If P is 2500 watts and R is 4 ohms then I is 25 amps. So in principle you could trip a circuit breaker if it was less than 25 amps. BUT are you really going to push this amp that hard at home? Seriously, most of us are using 40 - 400 watt amps, turned down, at home. I think Jule indicated that, even for gigging, a 15 amp dedicated circuit should be fine.

There isn't enough space inside the Tardis or the Rack Mount chassis to drop the 2500 watt Hypex amp in there. Believe me I have tried. The amp itself isn't that big, but the Power Supply to run the amp is very large. I am working on making it happen, but no solution yet.

Yes. One of my favorite things about Hypex is that they are masters of under-statement. By that I mean They overbuild and under sell. Good things.
We have to remember that they build amps for stadiums and concert halls. To my knowledge, only Mark Vanderkley (great amp builder in The Netherlands) and I are using these things for Bass. I wouldn't be surprised if Hypex thinks of the Bass World as "the little guys."
In the shop, I have never been able to get the M2500 to draw any more than 1.5 amps. Yes, more volume does mean more current going through that breaker, but I have never seen anything like the theoretical maxim current draw. Maybe for that very short time when I had the volume wired backwards in one unit. Not a mistake I will ever make again.

Power Cords: Make sure you use a very heavy gauge power cord with any amp. There is always an active discussion as to Tone versus Power Cord size that I don't want any part of, but no matter who's Class D Amp you use, make sure the power cord is 14 gauge or larger. Good way to tell if it is big enough is to try to fold it up. It should be difficult to fold up and put into a circle.

Thru small speakers I like the Jule and Reddi. Aguilar is a bit to round on the low end for lack of better words. Regardless though great effort in putting sounds clips together.

Should have mentioned; definitely use headphones if at all possible to really hear the differences, they were actually more dramatic than I expected

Totally! Nice job Matthew. And it doesn't hurt, at least IMHO, that you used a little DMB riff in there either.

I realize that this will come across as a bit biased given this is a Jule thread and I play through a Tardis 700, but the Monique sounds the best to me hands down, and I would have said that had I not known which was which.

I like the Reddi on the Motown track and Monique on the Dave Matthews Track. Pretty impressed with the DB750 too.

Thinking about changing out power amps again. The IPR's seem to start getting noisy after a couple years of gigging. I'm guessing some component value slide is happening with a bunch of hours on them.
