Jule Amps Monique part 5

I can say for sure that monique plays well with my SA Manta, OFD, and Orbital Mod. Monique is everything i hoped and more. She makes me smile, cooks me breakfast....
Smiling is very good. Thank you Kyle. About two weeks ago a new player said his out-of-the-box (Monique Rack Mount 700) brought him tears of joy.

That's all I'm looking for.

The other night, I made my first recording with Monique and a proper interface between it and the computer. The plan was to make a few test recordings comparing a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 to a Roland Quad Capture, both with the bass straight in and with Monique in between, but it seems the 9V powering the EMGs in my main bass is finally running low (heard some distortion through both interfaces, regardless of levels, when hitting chords hard), so I picked up my fretless P-bass instead. Started goofing around. Never recorded the comparison tracks, but came up with this little tune. EQ flat, Sensitivity knob pulled out and set to about 10:30. Bass is a Franken-Squier project with 500K pots, a Wilde/Bill Lawrence P-46, and flats. Tone control bypassed (it's on a push-pull pot) except on the slide-y octaves track, where it's rolled back a bit. No effects unless you count panning the tracks and adjusting levels.

The more time I spending listening to it, the more I hear things to fix, so I'm going to stop before all the joy is sucked out of it! First clip is the tune complete. Second is the soloed improv/melody track.

So, for those that partake on the dirtier side of things, what do Mo users typically use to add in some grit. I am loving the Mo, I just miss having that bit of grind I got from my Mesa 400+.

My choice
For warm tube type Overdrive - Darkglass Microtubes Vintage
For aggressive Overdrive - Darkglass B3K

After 2+ years, I still can't stop raving about Monique.

Big outdoor gig Sat on a hollow deck 5 feet off the ground with Monique and a single AE210 cab. Musicians in the crowd said the bass was incredible. I could hear myself perfectly with zero FOH support.

I played my 1972 beat up Jazz instead of my Fodera due to bugs and drunks. It only got knocked over twice! It is pretty mangled, so added mojo I guess!

One cool thing was that a buddy of my singer joined us for a few blues tunes and played his '56 Les Paul. Those old P90's sound surprisingly amazing for blues. His playing also helped!

Yeesh. Was that due to drunks, or big bugs? Beat up or no, I'd have a hard time with people knocking over my bass. Still, sounds like you had fun!
