Got to listen to my Lakland DD bass when I let one of my buddies play it at a gig. The difference in his sound from his usual P-bass was pretty amazing. The Lakland was so much clearer, and just put out such a powerful sound. He was very impressed, and I loved hearing how great my bass really sounds out in the crowd.

Valparaiso? Awesome. That is home for me. I will be up there for the next 2 weeks with my US Lakies. Do you have any gigs?

Hmmm...I was about to pull the trigger at juststrings.com, then I read this:

La Bella Electric Bass Guitar Deep Talkin` Bass
Extra Long, .045 - .105, Stainless Steel Flat Wound, 760FS-EXL

Since the Fifties and Sixties, La Bella's DEEP TALKIN'BASS Flat Wound Stainless Steel strings have been the first choice by many professional bass players. These long-lasting flat wounds are recommended for fretless basses."

It all sounded good until I read:
Important note: La Bella flat wound strings are not suitable for use on instruments that require through-body stringing. :rollno:

Has anybody had different experience?

As Orlando says below I am not sure it will be a problem....

I don't think there are any flat wounds that are recommended to be strung through the body.

Having said that, I always run D'addario Chromes through the body.

Never had any problems...

I just put a set of Chromes on my new (to me) Un-named (rhymns with Belly something fly acoustic)...even though it is not technically "through the body" there is the same bend etc due to the placement of the pin - had them on for over a week and no issues so far...only "problem" is that the B is not long enough! the thread is in the nut...darn it!

Hoping to join this club in the next week or so! 55-02...

yahoo! I cannot wait to see pics and see how you like it!

I've long held my own theories and ideas.

I shared them with Doug before, he attempted to disabuse me from my thoughts.

Unsuccessfully, I might add.

I am 100% convinced that both Nubs and Sasquatch are alive and well...

Yup.....you were right big O....

I was told by Leo, there is a 6 month build period on an US 5494.

Hmmm..when was this? JP just told me yesterday 3+ months.....

There's some amazing Decade fretless on the LOG CD!!

Sure is!!! Very cool sounding....it has some meffects on it but it is VERY cool!

Thanks Marcus and Jedi Bass. Sound good, very good

I've also a Skyline Decade coming my way, but this will be the ride for the ChiSonic Hollowbody pups:

(sorry for the non-Lakland-pic, but hey, there's big Chi-Love here)

we'll let you pass this time :smug:......I (for one) abd VERY interested to see what you think.....if it works, I MAY need you to work on a semi-hollow 5 fretless for me.....maybe....

I received my 2005 USA Bob Glaub today, along with my new cream case! It's great, I can't wait to get home, put some flats on it, and see what it can do...
