It sure is. And somehow still seems the best playing bass I've ever owned.

So I finally found a US Duck Dunn (~8.5 pounds) with the intent of eventually transforming it into "Duck Dude". The neck profile seems different. It is 1.5" nut width (I measured) yet feels significantly chunkier than I expected, particularly in the first 4-5 frets (which is where we earn our money!) It doesn't seem to me to be related to the finish on the back of the neck - it's more how it rests in the crook of my hand. The action is a little high but doesn't seem that bad. Perhaps the nut is high. I dunno, I'll get it (and the Dude) in to Carl I guess.

Carl should be able to customize the neck profile for you as well...ask him.....just a thought.

He has a "custom profile" that he does that is very comfy.....he even modified the neck profile on the 55-76 and the "old 55-76 BEM neck" a bit....

Im back in.....just got a 00' 4-94C. I had a 99' 55-94D for 12 years.....it was my main player up until last year. Really cant hang with 5er's any more. I like the simplicity of the Classic. Fit/finish is perfect. Fret work is flawless on this one.

I really love the Rosewood knobs on the 55-01...I'm thinking about Ebony knobs for the 55-02.

wow...unique and cool....love the Wilkins black grain finish...he did that to one of mine (without telling me) and I was way pleased.

Thought I would share a couple of modded 5501s with the group. The first one is a trimmed down body that I sanded down to trim off some of the 10 lb 11 ounces that it used to be. It's now 9 lbs 12 ounces.
Lane Poor pickups
Wilkins Black Grain finish
Creme knobs
Aguilar OBP3 with active passive switch and mid selector 400/800 switch.

It sounds absolutely spectacular.

Weird?
I owned one for about a week.
The pup was killer, the bass not so much.....so I offed it on trade to a store in Texas.
Mine was no where near 12lbs...
Maybe 9.5 ish ...for sure under 10.
Must be some odd variant in the wood they used overseas or something?

I see a EBMM 2008 LE case ...Easily the baaaadest case "visually" ever made...Faux lizard...gold poodle lining! = coolness!
I still have one of the two...sold the 2008 HS LE bongo and kept the 2008 HS LE Ray.

I offed maybe 7-8 EBMM basses to own the 4 US Laklands I still have

Hah, good eye on the case. Inside is my Dargie Delight I Sterling HH. It's not from 2008 but it's a worthy funky match IMO!

Whacko manager of the venue tonight is insisting we use a plexi shield around the ELECTRONIC drum set. And he has us positioning our amps at the front of the stage facing backwards.. I'm turned down so low I can't hear the difference between a B and a C. Yay.
