Mexican food appreciation thread

Okay, this place LOOKS like a good pace to get shot but it also has some of the greatest carnitas tacos around. If you're in South El Monte, stop by. They also have a newer location in Pomona.

Alright- if you're ever halfway between San Francisco & Sacramento and hungry, stop in Vacaville & look up Favela's(#14, a veggie burro that you'd SWEAR has some kind of flesh in there somewhere), Tacos Jaliscos(ANYTHING, but the fish tacos rock), Vasquez Deli(shredded beef burro- but stay away from humans for the next 24)or if you like *Americanized*(greasy, burger-esque)but still good, Murillo's(I suggest the chicken avocado tostada- a VV classic).

One time me and a buddy went to a Mexi place. Ordered some refried beans with our meal and had a couple of beers.

Long story short, the ride home was scary. I got all the way home but I did not make it the last ten feet to my bathroom after we got in my house. :( Man I thought I was gonna make it, what a let down.

Sorry I didn't take pics...you didn't want to see it anyway, trust me. :atoz:

I've been there! I don't think I had the carintas, but I do recall it being pretty good.

One of my favorite things about So Cal is how many great little places like this can be found where ever you go.

Wow! You really can find ANYTHING in Forums! Like that time I found "Bikers who worship Satan at the trail" In a mountain bike forum! :D

I'm mexican ALL the way! I'm US born, but I do live in Mexico...just right across the border from SD...Not Tijuana ok.

It's funny how americans LOVE mexican food! They search for the perfect traditional mexican food joint or whatever. I eat fairly trad mexi food about once every two to three weeks...And I absolutley love it...It's my favorite kind of food, even against burgers...and I LOOOOVE a great burger!

I live in a town called Tecate...were the beer is made...there is this little place called "La Placita" just across the park in downtown tkt (how the locals abbreviate). It's AWESOME! If you guys are not to scared to cross the border, come down to TKT and try LA PLACITA! And order a bohemia oscura (Dark Beer) and not a Corona...coronas IMO suck...Order Barbacoa (beef stew), Chiles Rellenos and chicharron in Salsa Verde!

Hell, I even read a couple of replies up, some guys mentioned Santanas....The owners are from Tecate, and they have to local Santanas...It's called "El Meson". It's gooooood! ;)

But hey, don't get me wrong, I do love a good Tex-Mex, gringo mexican food! :) With all the cheesy goodness on top! Which is not true mexican...at least not the cheddar part....I even love the Jack In The Box tacos! They are goooood! :)
