I think so. Cold, tomatoey soup with shrimp, octopus, avocado, and some other stuff...with crackers? Very tangy and tasty? At any rate, it was the first time I ate octopus. Surprisingly tasty.

Some dude was selling them out of the trunk of his car and the guys I was working with got me one. I asked them what is was called and the said "cocktail". I was a bit confused because I'm used to cold shrimp and cocktail sauce.

I guess I shouldn't be too confused. In Spain and the Philippines, torta is a potato omelet, not the tasty sandwiches they sell at Mexican restaurants.

instead of tomato soup ( catchup ) try clamato... you will love it ;)... and I agreed , Octupus is amazing , love it. Try it with chiplote sauce ...uffff pulpo a la diabla ( Devil's octupus)

This is the food I miss the most when I am traveling. When I lived in Taiwan long ago I would have killed for some tortilla chips and guacamole. Now it is not such a problem, but not nearly as great as we get here in So. Calif.

For Mi Amigos here in the East SF Valley - Bahia Caporales in Burbank is wonderful, specializing in Mariscos - Mexican seafood as well as the usual stuff. Don't be surprised if you are the only Gringos in the place. My favorite is the Tacos Alambrada - Soft with steak, mushrooms and cheese and a Negra Modelo. Mmmmm Mmmmm. Now where are my keys ? ? ?
