NBA Playoffs

You know what's most funny about that Woodchuck? Right before that shot, the announcers were saying how Chris Rock and Kobe were chatting on the sideline and enjoying themselves. As they cut to the scene, there sat Rock talking to Kobe like they were buddies while Kobe stared intently at the court totally ignoring anything Rock said.

Good game, bad reffing.

Good game, excellent, dare I say history-making reffing.
Kobe got called for the first travel of his NBA career. :D

I'm not sure what is up with KG, but Ray Allen's shot from the arc was a thing of beauty. Celtic bench gave valuable minutes and Rondo had a triple-double including the key shot late in the 4th.

This is more of what I thought the series would be like - multiple runs and anyone's game in the 4th quarter.

I'd have bet money the Celtics were gonna lose tomight after Game 1.

...and I'll still lay down a month of my wages that the Lakers take the series. If I were a gambling man, which I am not. So I suppose it is easy for me to say something like that knowing full well I would never follow up on it. But seriously, there is no doubt in my mind that the Lakers will win this eseries.

That is the beauty of the NBA Finals especially a Celtic-Laker finals. Things can turn around in a hurry. The game is affected by the reffing, what adjustments each coach made (why Jackson told his team to let Ray take all the 3-pointers he wanted is a mystery to me - ;)), how well the players execute the adjustments.

These teams are close - chances are it will head back to LA after the 3 games in Boston.

Because he won't hit them all in the next game when the Celtics players stand there watching as they tell him to fire away all night again. Lakers steal game three in Boston.

Jackson is a master of game planning and psychology. Heck, maybe he has a masters in psychology.

It's always mindblowing to me how often travelling isn't called in the NBA (regardless of team/player/etc.). I realize that it would slow the games down significantly if everyone got called for it all the time, but c'mon, not dribbling while you move is almost too basic to be called fundamental.

Then again, this is the organization that banned zone defense, so...

The more amazing thing is that Kobe got called for 5 fouls.

Why did the Lakers take so many 3's. They took 22 while the Celts took just 16. Celts made a few more though - 11 vs 5 for the Lakers.

Jackson is a great coach and I'm sure he'll have something ready for game 3. But I was not impressed by his game 2 showing. The Celtics played better in game 2; the Lakers were not as bad as the Celtics were in game 1 but they were not as good as they were in game 1. Do great teams with great coaches regress when they have their opponent on the ropes? LA let the Celtics back into this thing, big mistake.

The cool thing is that both teams are capable of playing better and if both teams play good ball on the same night - it could be epic.

Yeah. Kobe sucked last night. Gasol and Lamar (Lamar didn't do squat till the second half) really kept it from being a terrible loss. Allen broke some sort of 3 point record, like most made in the first half or something. Rondo really made some stunning hook shots and layups, FROM OUTSIDE THE PAINT! And KG didn't do much really but meh.... Pierce did pretty well to. I frickin missed the memorial on John Wooden, I was frickin excited cause I love Lou and Bill, it was going to be good. Anyone see that thing where Allen talked about him hating the celtics growing up? Karma's a bitch.

Also, I saw my new favorite commercial. The one where it's like thanking NBA fans and it shows one player go in the stands and sit between 2 fans and put his arms around them and another player ran into some fans and when he got up he started "petting" one fan's head. Thoughts?

LOL A great night. We will win game 3 for sure.

^^^This.

Heck, without dribbling it's just rugby, with a really tiny end zone.

I like that commercial.

The only thing I am sure about is that the ball will be thrown up in the air at center court and a basketball game will ensue.

KG did have a couple big moments in the fourth and his screens set up some of Ray's threes. He had the same number of assists as Kobe! I'm not sure if KG has another big game or if this is his adjustment to what his body can do and what the Lakers are giving him. Gasol and Bynum could probably each score 30 on the Celts, our bigs don't match up, but don't tell Jackson (or Bryant for that matter) :D

There could be an entirely different set of heroes for both teams in game 3.
