Opinions are like rectums, everyone has one, and all of them stink. Except mine. Of course that is just my opinion.

The annoying breathless affectation from Plant and then his banshee scream along with the stupid lyrics of "What Is and What Should Never Be" kept me from appreciating the great bass work there.
...
I don't mind sloppy playing if it's passionate (I like Neil Young), but you gotta bring something to the table

"The Ocean" by Zep was the very first song I had to learn for my very first cover band, and JPJ's tone and walking bassline during the outro has been a major influence on me ever since.
Need to also mention JPJ since my very first walking bass line was playing Zeppelin's THE OCEAN when I was kid in my first garage band. Very cool when a song opens a kids eyes to a whole world beyond riding the root.![]()
Not very. Zep music is unavoidable. You pretty much can't listen to any TV or radio without hearing it.The solution is easy - don't listen to them. How how easy was that?
The "sold a lot of records" method of establishing superiority I see around here befuddles me, to put it kindly. So I guess you are saying that you have NEVER criticized a band that sold a bazillion albums???? Seriously.... You have NEVER had ANYTHING bad to say about the talent, sound, or songs of a band that has sold tons of albums????
BULL$#!T
Critics of other critics come even cheaper.
+ a billion and a half. It's remarkable the way some folks have to resort to name-calling and personal attacks when their favorites are criticized. Why do people give such a crap about other people's opinions of their favorites? If all music satisfied everyone, there would be no need for different kinds of music. The dude doesn't like Zeppelin. I don't agree but I'm certainly not going to get panty-bunched over it or challenge him to produce his own music in response. That's his opinion and he's welcome to it, no matter how much it flies in the face of your delicate sensibilities. Get over it.
Who gives a crap about Jimmy Page's soloing? This is a thread about John Paul Jones, the bassist, on a board about bassists, which itself is part of a website devoted to bass and bass players in general. I could probably count the guitar solos I care about on one hand.
