Any HOF should be manned by stat nerds with no sports inkling.

The "writers" they use currently have feelings to be butthurt as well as allegiances. Also, who says they know, or even care about what they do anyway. It's like food critics. They say X place is crap where I've had 10 years of dining. I keep going back. For 10 years. And enjoyed it. Same with the "sports writers" they get so far up their own asses about each word they put to print they lose track of what they are even writing about.

You can't entrust it with sports reporting. You have people like Stephen A. Smith who everytime he opens his mouth it's a crap shoot whether it's going to make sense much less be factual. ESPN still parades that clown out because in their mind he's "entertaining".

News Flash, he's the reason I no longer use ESPN in any capacity. Not for sports. Not for fantasy sports and not for facts.

Meh ... I went off on a tangent there and ranted till I'm blue in the fingertips :)

I need a nap.

And a coffee.

Not necessarily in that order, mind.

P.S. conspiracy theory here - How much you want to bet (heh) that sports betting is somehow involved? I'll take Bill not getting a 1st round nod for 1,000,000 :1 please.

Eh, I think the process is fine how they do it. The writers know the people in the game they cover. It just cracks me up at the outrage this has generated. It seems as though all these folks who have their knickers in a twist are ignoring the inconvenient truth of the multiple cheating allegations brought against Mr. Belichick during his time in New England. One of those situations cost him a half million bucks. That kind of fine is no joke. $500,000.
I think it's fine to factor in that kind of history when considering someone for your hall of fame.

This and the fact that what the team looked like after Brady and Gronk leaving kinda showed Belichick might not have had much to do with the Pats dynasty. I can completely understand the HOF snub.
Add: Belichick was a head coach in the NFL for 29 years. He had 2 non-Brady winning seasons.

Yes, character should matter. I'm not so naive as to say eveyrone else in the HOF was an angel, but BB's transgressions are repeated and well documented.

At this point Tom Brady should keep his mouth shut. He was up to his eyeballs in the cheating incidents as well.

If I'm honest, I could care less. The only thing I will say, in the wise words of Rosanna Danna, It's always something.

I hear you buddy. Who cares anyway. I'm with you on that. As @WG Plum fittingly pointed out, it's over the top to treat people in this way because they run fast or throw far.

I learned something from Chris Berman today, who by the way I absolutely love listening to:
If Seattle wins on Sunday, there will be at least one record set. Seattle assistant coach Leslie Frazier will have the longest gap between Super Bowl rings -- 40 years! He was a "Super Bowl Shuffle" Chicago Bear in the 1985 season.

I am all about this Hawks this Sunday. ALL. I just hope they don’t wear those hideous Fluorescent unis. That would be most unfortunate. I would still be pulling for them, but…
They're going with their most used classic all-navy blue scheme. Pats are all-white. It's being pimped as the first Super Bowl ever with both teams going monochromatic, but I see that as a bit of a stretch, given the obvious trim accents on both uniforms.

Well, today’s the day. For years I have had a “rhythm section party” on SB Sunday, where my generation of bass players and drummers in the local jazz scene gather at my house to eat, drink, and yell at the TV. It’s one of my most beloved traditions. I get to see the drummers pretty regularly on gigs, but since there’s only ever on bass player on a gig, some of these guys I only see a couple of times a year.

In the past, there were always annoying dynasty/nasty teams playing that we all were against.

Dynasty: Patriots, Chiefs, etc. or any team that has won so much that we are sick of them at this point.

Nasty: Teams that we collectively dislike. Here, for whatever reason, that would be Ravens, Eagles, Cowboys, etc. Usually these involve annoying players or coaches or cultures that we don’t want to see rewarded.

Of course, there is crossover between the two categories. Mostly, though, I hate “destiny” teams, or teams that are so heavily favored that they seem to get all the lame calls like “save the day” PI calls at the end of the game.

This year, that didn’t really happen. There were some calls that I disagreed with, and I would rather be watching Bill/Rams, but this is fine. I will probably always hate the Patriots just for being the Patriots, but I gotta give this group at least some props for the rebuild. And Vrabel is way more likable than Bellitubby - although to be fair, anybody short of Emperor Palpatine would probably be more likable than Bellitubby. So just hoping for a clean, competitive game at this point with no dumb officiating that sways the outcome and makes everyone yell “syndicate!” at the TV.

Here’s hoping…

So my beloved Seahawks are playing in Super Bowl 60 this Sunday and I bucked up and bought a ticket for the game. I'm looking to just take in the whole thing. Really should be an experience of a lifetime.

Go Hawks!

Bones
oh my goodness... I saw that tickets we going to $8k and up!!! I hope it's worth it. you could buy a heck of a bass for that kind of dough.
