Good game in Columbus so far. The cliche about elimination games being the hardest to win comes to mind.

I knew I'd get some push back on this one. Just a bit of a tongue in cheek rebuttal to all the Habs fans I've listened to over the years.
Well, that was a bummer.
At least we get two more game sevens. My heart's with the Stars and Avs, but my money is on the blue teams.

Well, the only good thing is now I won't have to choose between Carolina and Columbus. It's tough trying to ride two bandwagons at the same time. 
Go Stars, Go Avs. I don't mind the Blues but I do not want SJ to advance.

Tenuous, but better than a poke in the eye with a stick. My teams went out early. Panthers in about December, then Lightning, then refs vs VGK.
Playing against a bunch of jerks.....how appropriate....
My wife moved to CO two months ago so I'll be rooting for Avs so she still has people to watch the games with, but damn, rooting for the Avs is like, well there is no metaphor, simile or analogy I can muster to properly express my distaste.
I can only take solace in the fact that our goalies beat the crap out of their goalie. Twice.

Is anyone watching game 7 of the Stars - Blues game? This is some of the best hockey I've ever watched.
Right now it's tied 1-1 halfway through the 1st OT. Blues have outshot Stars 50-22. Bishop has been pulling miracle after miracle out of his rear end to keep the game tied. Both teams have had extensive opportunities and it's been up and down the ice since the beginning.

The only thing that would make this game better was if it was 0-0 heading into OT.
I don't think there's anything more exciting in sports than OT playoff hockey.

Blues win at home in double OT!
Poor Bishop. He stopped 52 of 54 shots and was truly the star player of the game. Not to take away anything from Binnington. At age 25, he's getting better and better.
How about the Blues being dead last in the league in January, and now they're among the final four.

As great as bishop was you kind of knew sooner or later that they were going to get one by him.
After nine minutes the Stars has 8 shots and I'm thinking wow, they're on pace for 50 shots! You never really know.
I thought Binnington would be off his game after getting taken out. I think the Blues are going to need a lot more out of him if they hope to get to finals. He wasn't even looking on that first goal. Yeah, you have to get your stick back but you have to make sure the zone is clear before going after it, especially if your teammates offer you no help in getting it back. I think he easily would have made the save if he didn't have his back turned to the play.
That goal by Maroon was pretty good. Plus his reaction after was great. I honestly don't know if I've ever seen someone so genuinely happy and excited. That's one of the things I love about hockey.

And Craig Berube is still referred to as the interim coach. No new contract yet. Wonder what the holdup is?
Even though I was pulling for Dallas, they were lucky. Their goal was on an assist from the ref, and if it weren't for Bishop's heroics, they never would have been going to OT. The Blues had countless chances throughout the third period especially, but Bishop was a brick wall. Still, that was an exciting series to watch, and got very little mention here.
Seguin/ Benn/ Radulov = 6 SOG over 82 minutes of ice time. Yes, Zuccarello got the lucky goal but that was his only shot on goal the whole game. That's not going to get it done and they squandered and epic game 7 goalie performance.

Right. Goalies have a different mindset from the other players and they need to stay completely "in the zone" for the entire game. Often, when a goalie is hit in a collision, it breaks his concentration and he could let some easy shots get past him. Binnington shook it off instantly and made a couple of really tough saves in the next few minutes.
I watched that goal a bunch of times in slow motion and he played it right. The D tried to pass the puck behind the net to the far side. He saw the pass and then slid to the other side of the net anticipating the puck moving up the far boards. Unfortunately the puck hit the ref's skate and deflected right to the front of the goal from the near side. An easy tap in goal for the Stars forward who happened to be standing there. Just a really bad break.
