NHL Season 2021

Elias Pettersson fined for a slash on Mark Giordano.

Deserved fine? Yes. Warranted slash? No but understandable. Guy was frustrated as heck and he lashed out out of character.

Doesn't help that Calgary has a bunch of turtles and divers and embellishers.

Penguins didn't give up despite trailing 3-1 and 4-2, the boys fought back. Glad to see that, and also glad to see Malkin get his first point of the season.

Great play from goalie Casey DeSmith as he cleared and flipped the puck all the way past the red line while killing a 5-on-3 Washington PP. The pass hit Teddy Blueger right on the tape and he went in to score. That was sweet.

I'm hoping the league looks into the Oshie blindside hit on Petterson. It did not look good at all watching Petterson lying on the ice the way he was...that was scary. Reminded me of when Lindros was hit by Stevens...not a pleasant thing to see.

By all means I don't think that was done with malice by Oshie but it definitely looks bad when you blindside hit someone like that, no matter your reputation.

Seems like the league has been handing out fines to almost every minor infraction: Stuetzle got fined, Elias Pettersson got fined....

Yeah, when it happened I thought he led with his elbow based on the way Petterson went down. Replays did show it was his shoulder which is probably why they reduced it to a minor from a major. Still pretty cheap to blindside a guy looking the other way.

Vancouver pulls off a shootout W against the Montreal Canadiens. One of the most frustrating games ever. Yet another ex-Canuck comes to haunt the team as Tyler Toffoli scores a hattrick against his former team (short tenure but whatever.)

Neither Price or Holtby played great...very unusual for Price.

Best thing was the Canucks powerplay finally scored a goal...or two. Thank GOD! I don't expect it to be buzzing like that every game but it's nice to have that monkey for their back. Speaking of monkeys on backs, Elias Pettersson has yet to score a goal which has to be frustrating for the youngster. I believe there's something bothering him that we don't know about but I also know he'll get it going eventually.

Three games now, and the Bruins have yet to score a 5-on-5 goal.

It's a small sample size, but they're 1-1-1 on special teams entirely. This was not the expected outcome when getting rid of Krug and Big Z; those moves should have balanced out their even-strength performance.
Time will tell.

I think the bruins haven't figured out how to transition out of their own zone effectively. Part of that is loosing Krug and Z. Maybe more Krug than Z looking back over the last 2 years. The return of Pasta should help but it all starts with the transition.

Lol. I haven’t looked at the standings but comparing to the Sens is a pretty low bar.

Still one more period left to play and the Flyboys play isn’t pretty this far. Much better in the second but plenty of time for the Flyers to come unglued. That said 3rd periods have been strong for the Flyers going back to last season.
