Official 2011-2012 NHL Regular Season Thread; Second Period

The Avs look hungry tonight, Landeskog has had a few great chances. 2 - 0 after the 1st, let's hope they keep at it.

Also very interested in the possible trade moves during the weekend. Word is Stasney or Duchene may go. They're looking for a big power forward.

I really like Landeskog. I think he'll end up the best player of that draft. Although that draft was super stacked could be any number of guys.

Cool deal going to the game. I like how St. Louis plays. They seem to flying under the radar this season, but look like a good team.

First....thank you to the Lightning for knocking off New Jersey today. Impressive to see them come off such a blowout and play a good game on the road the very next day.

Great performance for rookie goalie Brad Thiessen for the Pens today. It was his first start. The game was sluggish for a bit, but the defense kept playing well to help the young guy out. Malkin is Malkin, and he played well again with another goal. I still love the way Jordan Staal plays and think he can win a few Selke's if he can play a full season without being injured.

A fine game between Dallas and Vancouver. The Canucks are leading the NHl right now, but Dallas hung around and came back for a solid win.

I'm heading off to watch the rest of CHI/ANA. The Ducks story is another great one right now. Just a few weeks ago everyone figured them for sellers and rumored deals for guys like Perry and Ryan were all over the place.

Saw that this morning. Went to bed last night disgusted after Bryzgalov left in the third softy on the shorthander to let the Flyers down 3-0 in the 2nd period. Was at church this morning, thought I'd look at the phone after practice and was shocked at the final score, even more shocked that it was a shootout final!!!

I was disgusted on that SHG. I'm glad to see them handle adversity like that,...but being able to comeback like that is not something they can count on and it's a good way to wear yourself out.

I liked that I saw some emotion from Bryz. Made me think that he may actually be interested in playing some hockey for a change. Hopefully the good performance in the 2nd and 3rd periods and more importantly the shootout will boost his confidence.

Went to the Jets/Blues game yesterday. Jets dominated and outshot the Blues 41-16. Halak kept the Blues in the game and they won in a shootout. Blues are a big team who like to hit.

Still the Jets have 10 points out of 12 in their last 6 games to stay in the playoff race.

That was a tough one to lose, particularly after watching how Ladd's shoot-out effort went down.

Bryz can show emotion all he wants. I want him to channel that into stopping pucks.

I don't know if it's the new HDTV or what, but I'm really getting miffed at his blown saves the past week. Went down of a high shot for that first goal. WHY? Saw it all the way in for crying out loud! Second goal low, just missed it with his glove. Again, saw it all the way in. He's got to save those! Third goal, short hander, why didn't he stop that? He's a former Vezina candidate!!! He had people wondering if he should start in front of Giguere in Anaheim, he was The Man in Phoenix. Now in Philly he's a seive! What happened??? You can't blame the defense on those softies.

Kudos to the team on the second time in three games on bailing him out. Second time in three games they were way outshooting the home team to win the game beyond regulation. They now have 4 of the 8 points given out on this road trip so far.

No comments on the trades? I was stuck replacing a switch stack and missed them all. Funny how this is the first place I came to get the run down on the deals. Off to TSN I go.

I'll join the playoff bracket if no money is involved.
