I like the moves we made today. AK and SK are both solid producers, and while I would've rather had someone else, he adds a little bit of offensive strength nigh in and out.

Paul Gaustad is the trade I like. He adds size and athleticism that we lacked with Smithson and adds another "hard to play against" guy to the line up. Both of these moves seem to be directly aimed at the Vancouver, San Jose, Boston type teams. We've owned Vancouver this year, and having all these extra pieces give us something to be excited about.

What remains to be seen is how this affects Suter's situation. Weber is almost a lock to stay, but Suter is free to walk without penalty.

Edit: The best part? All we've lost in the trading frenzy was a First round pick, Blake Geoffrion, and Jered Smithson.

I don't know if it's the new HDTV or what, but I'm really getting miffed at his blown saves the past week. Went down of a high shot for that first goal. WHY? Kudos to the team on the second time in three games on bailing him out. Second time in three games they were way outshooting the home team to win the game beyond regulation. They now have 4 of the 8 points given out on this road trip so far.

I find no fault in your argument there,...he can be a good goalie,...but those softies are just too easy. Saves and average goalie would make. I think the D has been shored up by the addition of Kubina and Grossman. I not really seeing a Stanley Cup this year for the Flyers,...but I'm not willing to give up on Bryz until this goes on for another season or two. You can say you told me so ;)

Considering Homers staying put at the end of trade day,...doesn't look like Bryz will be going anywhere for a while. I just want him to start playing the way he knows he is counted on to play. I want to see him start to get mad as opposed to just rolling his eyes when he lets a softy in.

They also picked up Clitsome from Columbus on waivers yesterday. Their depth on defense is the strength of the organization. Zack Bogosian might end up being a premier d-man in the years to come as he still only 21 but has already played 400 games in the NHL. They need some offensive help in the future.

Having said that they really dropped a duece at centre ice in last night's game against the Oilers. A game they really needed. They have played 7 games in the last 10 days so it looked like they had just run out of gas a bit.

That friggin third period gave me the cold sweats. That opened up a lot of painful childhood memories I had only partially suppressed..........Friggin Edmonton....

Man... I was all set to write another post about how the Caps played an unorganized, disjointed game and were blanked by the Islanders. Down 2-0, with 3:29 left in the game, Troy Brouwer got the first of his two goals (the second coming with 25 seconds left) to send the game into OT. Ovi sealed the deal in OT with a wicked wrister past a defender and under Nabokov's pads.

Sucked seeing the Caps play like bums (again) for 56+ minutes, but it was nice to see them gut it out and force OT; the win was just icing on the cake. The Caps are in 8th with one point and two games in hand on 9th-place Winnipeg. Not sure that we'll accomplish anything in the postseason, but it would be nice to make it.

I was tired all day today because of that late game. And to get a goose egg to. Kind of sucked. I need to sleep tonight. LOL. Bryz is looking good though and that is making me happy and I like the defense additions. Don't know if we can get it together in time but there is hope. If we get this all to come together we will be nasty, if we don't we won't make the second round.
