I think I'm caught in a Groundhog Day loop: A TB'er asks for thoughts on amp pairings for a BB2 / SM and I say "Hey! I use a Genz Streamliner 900 with my BB2/SM combo and it sounds great!" :( That's all I've got. (But it is a light, great sounding rig!)

Best sound I get from my One 10 stack (and got from the SC when I had it) is/was a good ol' Walkabout!
I can daisy chain both One10s to the 12" Walkabout combo as well, with superb results (they even fit nicely on top of it).

Sub'd. Hey Barefaced guys a couple questions. I'm very interested in a couple One10's.

First, what I don't understand-- Why the 12 ohms instead of 8? I was thinking of buying two and it would have to be the 12 ohm version and I don't know if that would drop down to 4 ohms combined for my GK MB500.

Second, does anyone have a GK MB500 with two One10's? I'd like to know how well two of those One10's perform in a club situation. I work with bands that are not loud, but there are often five or six instruments and a heavy handed drummer. I'd love it if I could pair a couple of the cabs with my MB500 and then for very small gigs use just one cab with my GK MB200. Anyone here do something like that? I like the idea of modularity, my two amps and to BF cabs would give me great flexibility.

The Two10 is 12 ohm or 4 ohm. The One10 is 8 ohm.

Alex explains some of his thinking on the 12 ohm decision on the website. 12 ohm seems to use slightly less watts, but lets you stack 3 and still get 4 ohms. These cabs are louder anyway so any watts missing because of the 12 ohms thing doesn't make the cab any less loud.

I have a One10 but I've not played it on a gig. I usually use my Super Compacts.

I can't imagine why that wouldn't be a killer setup. And I've gigged the One10/MB200 with great results (3 piece combo with PA support).

I've been meaning to post my review of the Super Compact but wanted to wait for its first gig, which was last Wednesday.

So first of all, once I wired my fee, it came from the UK to Canada fast. There was a brief problem with them finding the money I'd wired (long story, not interesting) but they solved the problem on their end and sent the cab immediately afterward. All the questions I had before buying were patiently answered by Alex or one of the other people there. Well done!

Then there's the packaging. BRILLIANT. It shipped with lots of recycled packaging: old boxes, an old bass magazine or two (interview with Chris Squire...), crushed up paper, and a minimal amount of foam supports to keep it steady in the box. I ordered it with the cover, and they used it for added protection in shipping. After removing the cab from the box, it quickly became the favourite of my dilute calico cat. She plays in it almost every day. Although I removed the bass magazines, both the foam and the paper have been an absolutely delight for her. She visits it at all hours of day and night, sometimes brings toys in with her, and makes a hell of a lot of noise. Our other cat occasionally uses it as well. We have had to move it out of the way of the back door for parties so smokers can go to the porch but otherwise it's a permanent fixture in the apartment, at least until she destroys it completely.

Oh, yes, you mean you wanted to read a review of the cabinet. Sorry!

First of all, it looks great. I mean, I feel shallow saying it, but the silver cloth grill plus the sparkly black finish just says "classic" even though it's a completely modern sounding cabinet. The light weight and well-designed cover have made it easy to move around and travel with, and in fact packaged up, it's lighter than my pedalboard at this point. And although I took a bit of a risk with not much information about it online, I'd say this is the best speaker cover I've ever had. We'll see how it holds up to years of abuse, but I am optimistic.

Soundwise, it's what everyone else has said. This is a modern mid-forward cab which means some EQ adjustment compared with past cabinets, but I like a lot of mids for clarity. I can get an incredible rock and roll sound from this and my Orange TB500 head and a split coil pickup. Last Wednesday it had its first gig at a smallish bar (originals band, Americana-style indie rock). I played a Lull PJ5 through it with D'Addario Chromes, and it was just incredibly clear and articulate on stage. I could hear every note, and it took overdrive really well (we are down a lead guitarist and I'm strung EADGC so i can play a few of the leads using pedals for extra volume and drive). On about a third of the songs, where the guitarist uses an acoustic, I play a Kala Ubass with Pyramid rounds on it. That also sounded amazing and completely different with the same amp head settings, suggesting that the cab was not doing a whole lot to colour the sound. I was going through the mains for the subs, but the entire band asked the sound guy to turn down the subs on stage so we could just hear the bass through the speaker (plus I am one of those people who believe you CAN have too much low end live).

The midrange is really something special, and given that I use distortion on the PJ, and that the piezo with the rounds puts out a bit more squeak than I'd like, the lack of a tweeter seems like the right choice for me, at least for now. Plenty of high mids for a screaming solo or harmonics, and for articulation with clean finger-style playing on both basses.

One last thing: the free trial is only for people in Europe. I had hoped to have it, but no dice for this side of the Atlantic. I took a chance and I'm glad I did. It's now my main cabinet.

When powerful, good-sounding lightweight cabs arrived I was sceptical. Until I got one, of course. But even then it does take quite a big mental readjustment to accept that such small boxes can make such big sounds.

Having said that, I'd still rock an 8X10 in a heartbeat - if someone would kindly carry it around for me... ;)

Dang, there's a lot of "Wow!!!" in that picture - amps, basses, and pedals, in addition to the cabinets!

Thanks guys. It's been a few years collecting lol. Missing in action is my Roscoe Beck IV, ashdown Kylstron 410 and Verellen Meatsmoke Hybrid!!! Can't wait for the MS Hybrid!!!

I'm seriously considering selling the ashdown head and cab and the Mesa 410 and 810 and getting another Barefaced!!!!

The Big Twin II has that modern articulate sound I was after. The 810 has the round old school bottom I love for certain styles!
