Something isn't right there. Should be two 1/4" brass Hex nuts extending into the truss adjustment cavity. Since those aren't there, you may be missing some pretty significant hardware. First thing I would want to check is whether or not you can see threads on the ends of the two truss rods. That's a start. I suspect you at least need the two 1/4" long nuts and possibly a brass tightening plate. No bueno.

You know, in all the time I've been on TB I've always avoided joining clubs. But I've been following this thread for a long time, and I'm going to make an exception and officially request a number.

I know I've posted this pic before, but I never get tired of showing it off. #1602 - Classic 4. Zebra top, alder body w/ wenge tone plate, pau ferro board, maple/wenge neck. Truly a unique bass, capable of some wicked, wicked slap tones, especially with light strings. The longer I own it, the more I love it.

I can see two rods adusting brass deep inside....

What's the serial number behind the string? Would help us figure out what truss-rod setup it should have.

I found out that the previous owner have replaced the fingerboard AND the truss rods......and weirdly the new rods are illogically deep inside....

Anybody have informed information about how many Gibson era basses had gloss finishes?

If we did a gloss in Conway it was poly. I don't remember what they used in Nashville.

A serial number in the early 8000's would be 1998 or 1999 right? Would that be Nashville still? How many basics and classics had gloss from that era?

Yeah that's nashville. I have no idea I never looked at the book unless a customer had a question or if we were entering a serial number.

Ok thanks. Seems like very few had a gloss finish and I wonder why they choose to sometimes finish one in gloss. Customer request?

When did Gibson change the pickups? Initially the Nashville radiused pickups were the same winding inside as the older drop shoulder pickups correct?

I don't know the date. They went through different companies too. Lane Poor, Seymour Duncan. You would have to contact Bartolini and see if they have a record of the change. There were no changes to the pickup winding while I was an employee.

When were other pickup brands used? I've never seen a Tobias bass without Bart's. What models used Seymour's or Lane's?

My understanding is that the windings Mike used survived for a while in Nashville then Gibson changed the windings. I'm wondering when the change.
