Official TUNE Club

Well........ I still haven’t even got my hands on this beast yet....... It all started many years ago when my cousin Rob, bought a red Bass Maniac brand new heavily discounted from a music shop... He has an array of basses including a five string Yamaha, a Thunderbird and one of his first ever basses a Samick... I played that Bass Maniac everytime I would visit his house and was absolutley in love with it... I love the active pickup and the feel of the neck and just the overall style and shape of it....... Anywayyyyy....... I play drums, guitar and bass and am a jack of all trades, master of none (defo preference for drums and multi tracking and loops) and in that time have owned a few little scrudly basses and never considered buying a proper one......... Until, I recently have been reunited with all of my old equipment (lived interstate and had all my gear in storage) and have gone through and done a stocktake, selling off gear I no longer need or don’t love anymore.... I sold my fender stratocaster and bought myself a magnificent fender jaguar and it dawned on me I would like to upgrade my bass..... when I started looking at models I remembered that random, kickass bass that my cousin had. I called him and got the model details..... I then began hunting around online but all the Tune Basses I could find were a little bit out of price range..... until....... I found one through facebook marketplace sitting in a secondhand store. Again.... a bit out of my price range.... I called them up, got my haggle on and got it to a price I was comfortable with and locked a deal in..... Then I called my cousin Rob, who works pretty close to the shop to go in and have a look... Overall he rekons it is in great condition so the deal has been done and he now has it with him.... I have a trip planned in September to get down and collect the beast....... anyway, that is the yarn of how I got into the Tune Club......
Great story, sorry you don't have your hands on it yet. I will patiently wait for your full playing review once you give it some time to really become your preferred instrument! ;)

Fellow Tuners.I have a problem with my fretted TWB.
It's not a new problem.
But one that I've tolerated.

My basses battery goes dead too quickly.
I would pick up the bass after not playing it for a while and I would be dead.
I've looked at the output jack and I don't see anything that would look like a short.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Do you leave it plugged in? If so, the output jack acts as a switch in many cases, and would keep power going to the pre at all times. If not, it could be something else that's keeping the power on.

1 = Unplug the output cable while not playing.
2 - Check out the plug (you might need meter to check if it stays on even when you unplug the cable).
3 - There is nothing else to drain battery.

No.
I do not leave it plugged in.
I should have stated that in the beginning.
I know not to do that.

I may just replace the barrel jack.
That may solve it.

Any ideas??

Cheers. :)

I have found a darker brother to Flat Eric's rare tune supernova bass. My guess is that it is produced in Korea (due to the 25 frets). I am considering to modify it and add switches to each pickup so it can be played in parallel-single coil - series. Right now pickups are in series and sound a bit hard and closed. However, I am hesitant to drill extra holes in the body: Is it blasfemy to modify such a rare bass (anybody looking for an original)?

A beauty to view for sure. Is there an option to use push-pull knobs to serve for the coil switching?

Thanks, Mark, that's a good suggestion. I think push-pull will work for the bridge PU, where I prefer the series and parallel mode. However, on the neck pick-up I also like the single-coil mode, which actually sounds best when I tested this.
My main question however was, whether there is some dedicated fans of Tune basses who are keen to get such a rare Tune bass in its original form. But it doesn't seem that way, so I will probably just experiment with this one, and find my drilling machine to mount two extra switches :)
