Post Your Pedalboard - Part I

Heh, your using HC for siting your source?! Sorry man, I have built/fixed pedals for years. There is no simalarity to flange and phase on an ELECTRONIC level. Phase was around YEARS before there was ever a delay chip, so how can it be a delay baised effect??? Flange and Chorus came after analog delay chips where created - in the 70's, there where phase shifters in the 60's...

You said electronicaly... So, your wrong. And you need better sources. ;)

cheers

Alex

Actually, there is no trouble.

All he has to say is the flanging process, when implemented electronically, is similar to both chorus and phaser. Which is true.

And display more tact when telling somebody he is wrong.

Oh, and use more spellcheck. ;)

I've been riding a bicycle for 35 years. Does that make me a Lance Armstrong?

You make a nice summary dismissal of somebody else's work. Where is yours?

Ok, smartalec... You posted something that you stated as a fact, which was false... I am sorry my spelling is not as proficient as yours, but I am comfortable with that fact. It does not change you stated something as a fact without any facts to back it up.

Cheers

Alex

p.s. Tact usually does not work on the internet, much like sarcasm. ;)
p.p.s Attacking my spelling really was a low blow by the way.

I could waste my time and go on and on, explaining the many ways in which what you originally posted was false - but you it wouldn't get anywhere - at least that's how it seems.

I gave you the information, if you want to dispute it go ahead. Do a search, you will see that its correct. Bob Moog has phase shifters on his analog synths in the 60's, Maestro manufactured their first phase shifter in the late 60's.

The first production Flange was made by Coron in the mid 70's, and Rolland had the first Chorus.

But I will just leave it alone now...

Allow me to cite non HC sources.

http://ccrma.stanford.edu/~jos/pasp/Phasing.html A guy from Stanford U.

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed] Some guy from McGill University.

I think my error here is saying flanging is closer to phasing than choruses. When in fact they are closely related also.

But I wasn't VERY wrong as you claimed. :)

You go ahead get one more word in and there will be no more from me. I like this thread. :)

Ok to quote one of your sources

The phaser, or phase shifter, is closely related to the flanger in that it also works by sweeping notches through the spectrum of the input signal. While the term phasing is sometimes used synonymously with flanging [30], commercial phase shifters have been observed to implement nonuniformly spaced notches.4.3 We will therefore define a phaser as any linear filter which modulates the frequencies of a set of non-uniformly spaced notches, while a flanger will remain any device which modulates uniformly spaced notches.

Right fair enough, they are similar in sound and theory but elkectronically they are totally different one uses delay and the other uses filter.

You said electronically now fine maybe you didn't mean that but thats what you stated as a fact and we don't want the noobs getting upset and confused now do we :D

Yay!

Anyways, here's the new update.

So how much does your board weigh? I'm thinking that you need some wheels to roll it around with. ;)

Well the pedaltrain pro hard case has wheels on it so already one step ahead of you ;) it's not like really heavy, but its not exactly light, as long as its never heavier than my amp I don't care.

Hey Tayste, how does the singnal flow then dude? I've seen your setup before on the Zender message board, not bad!

Well most of the pedal's are true bypass, at the moment there are alot of pedals that are in my signal straight away, but I will be putting the Echo Park, DD-20 and Maneco Nanolooper in a loooper 2 soon so that will help I'll only have 7 pedals in my chain with out using any loops but 1 of those is compression so its always on, another is eq so again always on and the last is overdrive which again is always on so again 3 of the 7 are always on for tonal purposes, 2 of the 7 are bypass loops and the other 2 are true bypass.

I use quite good quality cables and find my tone with my whole pedal board is very good and I'm very happy with it. It is different from my Bass--Amp tone, but then I wanted it to be as when I use it, I leave my amp flat sometimes plugging into the effects return on the amp bypassing all the eq.

Hope that answer's all your questions.

Cheers
