Praise Report: GHS Precision Flats

What happens if you take them off? E.g., to temporarily put on a set of roundwound strings, and then put the flats back on? (Asking for the edification of all, and especially for myself, as I recently did just that...)

I believe the implication is that it takes time and playing on the strings to break them in and even them out. If you take them off, you're not using them, thus they will not break in and even out.

How does the tension compare with the Roto 77s 45-105? I tried them, but the tension is more than I can handle. After a 4 hour gig, my fingers are really hurting. (I've been playing for 54 years). Love flat sound, but looking for something manageable,

The 45-105 GHS flats set is lower tension than the 45-105 Rotosound 77. I don't have numbers, but I have personal experience fiddling with the truss rod. The GHS are definitely lower tension.

This is correct! Roto 77's are the quintessential 'Bridge Cables' right along with LaBella's Jamerson set. You want high tension? Pick 1! And adjust your truss rod. And again. And again. Until ......

I don't think I'd want to even try the Rotosound 77's 50-110 set...
Yeah, and you know Steve Harris has a full time professional bass technician to keep his signature 50-110 set well adjusted on all his Fender Precisions.

Notice that LaBella doesn't have an image of James Jamerson on their 'Jamerson' set.

same as fender can't use his image or name for the precision. they used to have a jamerson bass but got sued because they used his name/image without approval. now it's the '62 precision reissue. it's the jamerson.

not sure if labella got sued too or if they've always just used the 1954 vintage original to get around it.
