A Diabolik *and* a Baby Thundaa. Whoa.
You are going to have some tones there, my friend. I'll call first dibs on the pedal that loses the shootout, I'd love to add either of those to my board.

I'm not really familiar with sub-genres of metal, (they all sound the same to me, and I can never hear the bass)
That being said, it's a pretty versatile pedal.
Right now I have the Fuzz all the way down, the clean all the way up and squish all the way down.
This setting gives me a clean high end, but fuzzes up the low end, and gets nice and grindy when I dig in.
Very similar to the bassline in Beastie Boys' "Gratitude"
So this thing is able to get some really nice "light dirt" tones but it can still crank out the fuzz like a mother fuzzer.
If I were playing live I would probably put it in an effects loop, just so I could blend in some of my clean signal.
Cool, thanks for the response. Also I should clarify, due to the never ending stress of science classes, I'm not looking for a band right now. But I still practice solo and compose my own bass instrumentals. I'll keep doing that for a while. So I guess what I'm looking for is a way to get that massive distortion/fuzz that normally is the guitar's job.

unfortunately there is only room for 1 on the board
and I don't have any decent recording equipment.. but I'll make sure to write down a small review/comparison!
for now I only have been disappointed with muff-based fuzzes, so I think it's time for a change
If I can get the tone of that last riff in the video I have good reasons to think the Diabolik will win... but the winner will in any case be the one that stands out best in the mix in my band...

I've never done a demo on a pedal before. Any advice or pet peeves that you hate seeing in pedal demos?
Personally I hate hearing some d-bag crack un-funny jokes for 2 minutes before he starts playing.
Also Youtube sucks for audio, but you get to see the pedal settings with video.

Sounds like you're sort of in the same situation as me, and for my taste it definitely would fit in with stoner/doom, but if you EQ it right and possible split your signal it's definitely able to get some of that gritty metal tone.
HOWEVER, if you prefer that scooped tone... probably not for you, as the Diablolik has a beefy mid tone that for me is exactly what I want.
You might be able to scoop the mids through some EQ but again, I think there's a lot of potential for lots of different tones
Agreed with you about the blabbity. And Youtube does add compression, but I don't think it sucks when the recording is done well. Too many people use cam mics, though, and cam mics are crap. Record your demos through a decent computer setup while you run the cam, sync it to your video after the fact, and then it's much better.
Played with my drummer the other night, had a little rundown between the Diabolik and Baby Thundaa. It took about ~15 seconds for the Diabolik to win. Drummer said it was effin awesome as well!
That thing is insane! This is the dirt sound I've been looking for the last 3 years! Amazing, and so easy to use. A real winner. I wouldn't have minded a little explanations on the controls though, what does what exactly? And I could have lived with a less hippie design, it doesn't really look like how it sounds.. but that thing is going on my board AS OF RIGHT NOW!
