Request - ease up on the Sire advocacy

Yes, the people saying they are MIK do not own one. They are made in Indonesia, with some now coming out of a proprietary plant in China (meaning, Sire's own plant, not subbed).

I get that when something is immensely popular, it is a natural reflex of the hip and semi-hip, myself included, to want to dislike it. If it's an extremely popular movie or song, I probably hate it. I am a contrarian too. It's just that these are very good basses at "meh bass" prices.

We know we now live in an age where one can get both cheap crap and a damn nice bass from Indonesia. What makes me laugh is it seems like folks who were Fender fans that have recently discovered Sire basses are just now learning what Squier(better)/Cort/Ibanez(not Gio)/G&L Tribute/Lakland Skyline/etc. owners have known for a few years now. Yeah, you can get a really nice bass for $400-600 now, it's a good time to be a buyer!

Well than I guess you just like, say like a lot? Like, that's totally cool when asking for an honest appraisal of something and then like, calling someone out for like, pointing out that your appraisal was sort of like, laced with likes...which would leave one to believe you were being sarcastic. Unless you just like saying like a lot.

Yeah, I hear you. I have nothing against any of those brands, and in fact have never owned one of any of those, so I just don't know. A lot of people like them. I have played and owned plenty of Fenders, and of course the Sire is a jazz-style, so really that's my main point of reference with Sire. I own a G&L but not a Tribute.

Every player is different. Just because a bass is high quality doesn't mean it's the right instrument to be in everyone's hands. I have disliked very nice basses before. If Sire is not for you, cool. But, for those who want to have the best bass they can afford, it's worth trying out... if you could. I think if they were in retail stores, skeptics could satisfy themselves one way or the other. It's a leap of faith and I understand those who won't make one with $400. It is VERY true that $400-$600 buys you a LOT better bass than it did 15 years ago.

Yknow what? Im actually a writing teacher. I know how to write. I can't believe I can't write casually online without getting jumped. I try to help by answering your question without any sarcasm intended and this is what I get? You're the one being sarcastic. I try to be respectful to everyone I meet in person or online, maybe I'm old fashioned or I was raised right. It's just a bass were talking about here and it's not that big a deal if some people like them and some don't. Im done here, I'm sorry everyone had to read my rant. I'm obviously putting you on ignore. Try to treat people a little nicer, you might actually feel good about it. Have a goodnight.

Seems like if might be time to try one out and see what the fuss is about. Looking at a picture and speculating is only that: speculation. But arguing ad nauseam about that speculation without taking the trouble to find out seems like a huge waste of time and energy. A kind of masochistic wank. Like listening to my in-laws arguing in the back seat about whether Osama Bin Laden came from Iraq or Afghanistan, when they both admit they don't know for sure, but they're pretty sure the other one is wrong. I eventually ask them to quit arguiing until they get home and look it up on Wikipedia, fer cryin' out loud. But I learned that they just love to pick fights about things they actually don't know about, because it annoys them that somebody might know something they don't.
