I've been playing bass for 45 years blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. What's that got to do with anything? Close this steaming pile down please.

Sometimes TB is great, other times....

A bass player friend of mine had one of your basses in the early 90's which he let me try out. To this day it's the finest bass I have ever laid hands on. It virtually played itself. I'm going to go with your opinion on all of this @SadowskyI usually reserve my time on Talkbass to answer questions or correct mis-information. This reply is so cynical and odious, I am compelled to reply. My FET preamp circuit has stood the test of time for 40 years, as well as some of my pickup designs. I have never promoted my fancier woods and have never implied it makes a better instrument. A large portion of our production are simple ash or alder bodies without any fancy neck woods or fingerboards. I have always said that our beautiful lam tops or roasted flame maple necks, are for cosmetic reasons only. There is something lurking behind this comment that goes way beyond cynicism.
Well at least the 410/15 cabs threads have died down.I've been playing bass for 45 years blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. What's that got to do with anything? Close this steaming pile down please.
I think there have been unusually few personal attacks, for TB, in this thread, imo. I'm not sure what's so objectionable. It's pretty straightforwardly a thread about a widely respected Luther's considered opinions on aspects of wood in instrument construction. Some have different opinions, that's fine.I've been playing bass for 45 years blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. What's that got to do with anything? Close this steaming pile down please.

I fully agree!
If I might expound a bit further. If you have band mates who care about the band sound/dynamics, they’ll be on board with how you’re coming across and get into it. You being moved to play better because you’re getting “your sound” tends to inspire the rest of the group. Last Saturday’s gig was good example for me regarding this.

Arguing opinions for 11 pages doesn't get anybody anywhere and it doesn't change anybody's mind.
If people are posting and having fun, then it isn't your or mine to decide what should and shouldn't be discussed here, just ignore it if you don't like it. That's what I'm gonna do here because this is the BEST forum for bass or music I have found yet. Haven't tried many guitar forums but considering the differences between guitar players and bass players (I play guitar too), I'll stick with this one.

Yeah, 11 pages and not even any good jokes :{Arguing opinions for 11 pages doesn't get anybody anywhere and it doesn't change anybody's mind.
Hate to be a cynic but he makes more money from telling evryone about expensive woods than from say innovation or the electronics. He's one clever dude and u all fall for it..
Considering what you're trying to prove though about Karens your post comes off as kind of ironic...You could just quit being a Karen and ignore the post?
