The difference is very miniscule compared to something like pickup placement, and pickup type. If it was at all a factor, you could identify it blindly. I'd post an audio clip of me playing a piece, and you'd say, "oh, terrible playing, but he's got good taste because he's paying a bass with an ebony board". But as we know, nobody can do that.
It's not so much that I doubt career professionals as much as I acknowledge in some cases they have a conflict of interest. A lot of Oil change places still recommend getting your oil changed every 3k miles, but tons of other evidence suggest with today's lubricants that is no longer needed. But Jiffy lube isn't going to tell you every 10k is fine for obvious reasons. But they are oil change professionals, so they would know, right? And the guys at the Ford dealer with tons of experience saying Ford makes the best trucks - no reason to doubt those guys?

What I found distasteful was the insinuation that Roger was being less than honest in his opinions in an effort to upsell more expensive woods and that the video was nothing more than selling snake oil.

Completely unnecessary and unfounded, not to mention just plain lame.

I think it's useful to see and discuss opinions like those of Mr. Sadowsky .. we don't really have a metric for whose mind may have been changed, or opened perhaps to new considerations. Or not.
It's all grist for the mill. I found it informative.
The nature of threads here at TB seems to be that they drop from prominence after a few days, regardless, so no worries on that score.
