Schecter Owners Club, part 3

To Me it honestly doesn't make sense, Active pickups in a semi hollow body, won't that defeat the purpose and do jack for sound?
I much prefer the new Ultra bass

The Corsair has passive HZ pickups and an Active 2 Band EQ.

I Love the Active Seymour Duncan APB-1 Split coil Pickup that came in my Semi Hollow Schecter dUg Bass.
I've had the Passive Michael Anthony signature MonsterTone Split Coil in the dUg for a few days just to see how much difference it would make. I was surprised that it sounded very much the same except the Active SD had slightly more output and a bit more highs/presence.

My newest family member is up and running after some minor tweaking, and new strings. A Schecter Stiletto Elite 5. Just could not resist this one. Capital “D” in Deluxe, and a Capital “E” on Elite. Drop dead Gorgeous, in every regard. Fit and finish wise reminds me of my Les Paul Supreme. I am TOTALLY down with this bridge. Wish they were all this way. I believe these were available either 4 or 5 string ? Some are “ String Through” and some are top load only? If you are an Elite owner, let’s see some pic’s. BTW, this week I have something coming in rather unique Schecter wise. I used to own one, and typically sold it like an idiot. I even put together a special Ampeg setup to use with it. Should have some pictures up by mid week, stay tuned. Best to all, and stay safe!

To be totally honest here, I somehow being Stiletto-ized. Back in like ‘07-‘08 or something I owned two Schecter Bases. One was a Stiletto Custom 5. Not even sure why I sold it. It was a mistake. The other I won’t mention, since it’s replacement is due in here tomorrow. Another regretted sale back then. Pictures will be up this week hopefully. Everything that I have had experience with Schecter wise, has always had some type of an EMG active system. The are really good and all that, but I would be content with good passive pickups. I choose their instruments in general because I believe they have the right idea in mind. Provide something of good quality at a good price.

danged responsibility :D
I have to at least pretend!

Actually a bunch of things popped up at the same time that I have been looking for for a while now and all priced reasonably so I jumped on them.

Hopefully this Gold Top will still be around a month or two from now and I can jump on it then. They make a black one too.

Pic of my modified 2019 Schecter J-4. Not totally done modifying it but it's quite the looker after getting rid of that pickguard, adding a traditional jazz control plate, and swapping out most of the black hardware for gold (minus the bridge which I could find nothing specific from Schecter so I skipped it for now).

The gold plated brass thumbrest was also a nice added touch to J-4 that adds flair and comfort when I play.

Schecter Stock bridges are Made by a Korean company called Sung IL they are great Bridges as they are rounded off so You can get cut on them, the quality is great and the price is rediculous considering You get a bridge comparable to Gotoh in quality, they also come In 4 different colors and will be an exact match to any gold Schecter hardware.

I've been really impressed lately with some of the affordable bridges out there similar in style to GOTOH, Hipshot, etc. They may not be made out of the quality of material of the boutique stuff but they are definitely usable and reliable.

My second Elite 5 in black (the one on the left) arrived today, to be a partner to the red one bought not to long ago. Looks ok overall, still cooling down after being in a hot UPS truck all day. Now that I have calmed down and have had a couple of drinks and stopped throwing things, I will make the following comments. Packing was let’s say interesting, being polite. Previous owner obviously had a long haired pet. Gig bag it was shipped in smells like I don’t know what, I put a Mask on just in case. Bag is currently hanging by a rope off my deck to air out, THEN will be thrown in the trash! Not to worry, Schecter hard cases will be arriving soon for both. Sorry I’m a Virgo with OCD, and over thirty years in the shipping and receiving business. The late “Bogey” had a famous quote that went something like “the problem with the world is everyone is two drinks behind “. So in kind or that regard you guys are two Basses behind. How does the phrase in cards go, “raise and call”. This is for bass humor, laugh now. Will try to get a family portrait of my stuff up here soon. Keep you pictures coming if you are a Schecter owner. Best to all !
