well I got my Speakon re-wired for bridging my SVT-4....and holy hell, its crazy with the 1212. I had a rehearsal last night with my 7 piece world/tribal band and it killed on our practice stage. Everyone could hear every note I played, without it being too loud...the projection and clarity of these cabs is amazing. Even with all 3 drummers. I thought it the cab was incredible before I had it bridged but now its over the top.

I ended up re-setting my EQ flat because the tonal range and punch of the 1212 is so much better than what I had the EQ set for with my 410 rig. My Brubaker never sounded better. I also ran my Clevinger EUB and it was so much better sounding through this cabinet.

Before I was on the fence on whether I should have gotten the 21012, but after fixing my Speakon and getting the full bridged sound.....I'm perfectly happy with my 1212.

Thanks to everyone for the Speakon tip....I still can;t believe I've been running that amp wrong for so many years

That's good to hear, my svt mono into my 21012 was really more than I needed so I went with the 1212+1210. Most of the time all I need is one cab, but two of them really fills the stage. I'll put one of them off to the side of the stage facing me and one behind me.

That setup must be really really nice. Maybe I'll have to look into adding a 1210 for the bigger stages :bassist:

I plan on doing this as well when necessary.

I'm still totally on the fence about a 410 or 21012, however. I've got a 1210 and it's great, no doubt, but I kinda need a larger cab with our limited PA. Course, I DID just figure out how to bridge my amp correctly, so we just shall see... ;)

(on a side note, how do most people run their power amps? i've heard it's damaging to NOT run it at 100%- any truth to this?)

I usually run my preamp about 1/2 way up (sometimes 1 - 1:30 o'clock) and adjust the power amp to the appropriate volume level.

No truth to that at all.

Most power amps that have controls act as input level attenuators -- too hot of an input, back off on the power amp level.

The power amp is still capable of hitting its max rated power, just depends on the signal coming into it.

We all share in the quest for great tone, but what's good for one player is not necessarily what's right for another.
But this is one never ending journey I will always enjoy.

I think both the 1210 & 1212 have a great slap tone, together they have a massive slap tone :D :bassist: You also might want to try the sellium <sp> horn option.

There are titanium or selenium tweeters (the selenium tweeter is an option).

The selenium tweeter has more output.

Both are still very musical (not harsh -- unless the signal input is harsh).

The details and price can be found on the Schroeder website.

Sound is difficult to put into words -- good low end, very punchy, a modest lower midrange bump that helps them 'cut-through' in a band setting, smooth treble.

Pretty efficient, plus they project like both smaller diameter and larger diameter drivers -- very audible close up or far out.

it's a little cleaner now....

but hey...aside from the bass gear the rest of that is my roomates...well, not the subwoofer inthe bottem left...

but ya know


...I need a 1212 to clutter up the place more

Hey snobass, a word of advice. Make sure that the poweramp you purchase does not have faceplate handles that are not removable or protrude to far. Otherwise you will not be able to affix the front cover of your rack case. BTW, nice setup.

Thanks, I've already kinda ran into that problem though. I had to reset and drill new holes for the rails when I got the rack because I couldn't put the faceplate on with my Bmax and DBX compressor.

I plan on getting a carvin poweramp unless a good deal comes along, so I should be in good shape.

I've had a 1210 for a while now, but never had the chance to gig with it, due to a lack of gigs. We did a hurricane relief show last night and wow :bassist:

I ran my BBE bmax->PLX1200->schroeder

it was BIG. plently loud, i was runnin gain at about half on my power amp and about half on my pre. Sound was round, thick and full. I jumped off stage and let the singer play a song and went out to the crowd and listened. Best bass sound I heard all night.

It was easy to setup and take down too!
I give it 5/5 stars, try one if you haven't already. :hyper:

Finally had my chance to try a Schroeder 1212 today. I waited weeks until I could make the drive, and Dave over at Ultimate Basses in Guelph was gracious enough to open his shop on Thanksgiving day Monday for me. After fiddling with all the appropriate dials on my bass and amp, I came to the conclusion that Its not the one for me. Its certainly not a bad sounding cab, in fact it had really good definition and a very articulate upper-end without becoming harsh. Probably more so than most of the other cabs I've tried. It felt like the cab was really taking off when I was hitting the G string octave (and higher notes) not unlike a race-car approaching their power band.

I think I may have hyped myself up over what everyone was saying so I was over-expecting something special to happen when I hooked up. I don't know - it may have been room-modes but that special something didn't happen for me.

So - I guess I'll just keep looking for that special cab.
